The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has denied reports claiming that all government schools in the FCT were directed to shut down by November 28, 2025, insisting that no such directive was issued.
Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, clarified the situation on Tuesday and announced immediate disciplinary actions.
According to him, the Minister has ordered the suspension of the Mandate Secretary for Education, Dr. Danlami Hayyo, for issuing the controversial circular without proper approval.
In addition, the Acting Head of Service, Mrs. Nancy Sabanti Nathan, has been instructed to sanction the Director of School Services, Mrs. Aishatu Sani Alhassan, in line with civil service regulations.
Sources revealed that Hayyo released the directive on premature school closures without obtaining the necessary authorization.
The FCTA described the viral report as false and misleading, urging parents, students, and school administrators to disregard it and continue to follow the existing academic calendar.
The administration also reassured residents, particularly students and parents, of continued security across the territory.
It noted that the Minister has ordered the immediate continuation of Operation Sweep and other security initiatives to strengthen safety within the FCT.
