The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State has sounded the alarm over what it describes as an emerging plot by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to disrupt peace and political stability in the state ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The party called on residents across Enugu’s three senatorial districts to stay vigilant and resist any attempts by the ADC to undermine the long-standing governorship zoning arrangement that has ensured stability and political cohesion for decades.

Dr. Ben Nwoye, chairman of the APC State Caretaker Committee, issued the warning over the weekend during the inauguration of the party’s ward and local government executive committees in Nkanu West LGA.

He was accompanied by the committee’s secretary and former Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Barrister Eugene Odo.

According to Nwoye, the ADC has become a platform for disgruntled politicians seeking to disrupt the political stability of the state.

“Do not allow yourselves to be misled by the ADC. They aim to use you to create disunity and destabilisation,” he warned.

“These are politicians who are desperate to sabotage the governorship zoning formula that has guaranteed Enugu uninterrupted peace.”

Nwoye stressed that the zoning arrangement remains essential for the collective interest of the state, noting that Governor Peter Mbah’s achievements across various sectors justify continuity and his potential second term in line with the rotational agreement.

The inauguration in Nkanu West was part of the final phase of the APC’s statewide tour to install local government and ward executives across all 17 LGAs and 260 wards in Enugu State.

Other members of the state caretaker committee present included former Minister of State for Defence Ambassador Fidelia Njeze, Comrade Peter Chime, Dr. Oby Ajih, Dr. Chiedozie Nwafor, and Engr. Emma Ekeh.

They were welcomed by a large crowd of party supporters, stakeholders, and government officials.

Also present were the immediate past PDP State Chairman, Dr. Martin Chukwunweike, and the Governor’s Political Adviser, Hon. Frank Anioma.

Nwoye reiterated that the APC has emerged as the dominant party in Enugu, highlighting that Governor Mbah’s alignment with the APC has shifted the political landscape.

Recalling Mbah’s 2023 governorship rally, he said, “It was clear that the PDP was already weakened by internal conflicts, while Governor Mbah represented a leadership that could deliver results once aligned with the centre.”

Dr. Chukwunweike, former PDP Chairman, described the movement of political structures from the state to ward level into the APC as a reflection of “practical governance realities” and in the best interest of the people.

The APC’s statewide inauguration, which also covered Enugu North and Nkanu East LGAs, concluded this weekend after two weeks of an intensive tour by the Nwoye-led committee.
