Residents of Dansadau town in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State on Wednesday reportedly attacked a member of the State House of Assembly over allegations of poor representation and neglect.

The lawmaker, Kabiru Mikailu, who represents Maru South Constituency, was said to have been assaulted by angry youths when he accompanied Governor Dauda Lawal on a visit to the community.

Residents accused the legislator of abandoning the constituency since his election, alleging that he rarely visited the area or engaged with constituents on matters affecting their lives and security.

Some community members claimed that Mikailu neither attended Sallah celebrations in Dansadau nor visited families who lost relatives to repeated bandit attacks, a development they described as deeply disappointing.

Security operatives were reportedly deployed to the scene and succeeded in restoring calm, preventing the situation from escalating further.

Governor Lawal was in Dansadau to flag off the reconstruction of the over 90-kilometre Dansadau–Gusau road.

He also ordered the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the town’s General Hospital and approved the provision of solar-powered electricity to improve living conditions in the area.

The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to restoring security, rebuilding critical infrastructure, and improving the welfare of communities affected by insecurity across Zamfara State.

During the visit, Governor Lawal was also conferred with the chieftaincy title of Garkuwan Dansadau and turbaned by the Emir of Dansadau, Alhaji Garba Muhammad.
