The Chairman of BUA Group, Abdul Samad Rabiu, has announced a major financial incentive for the Super Eagles following their emphatic victory over Algeria in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) quarter-finals, which secured Nigeria’s place in the semi-finals.
In a statement shared on his Facebook and X accounts shortly after the match, Rabiu congratulated the team for a performance he described as one that “lifted the spirit of the nation.”
He pledged $500,000 to the squad if they defeat hosts Morocco in the semi-final, with an additional $50,000 for each goal scored in that game.
Rabiu also promised a $1 million reward should Nigeria go on to win the AFCON final, plus an extra $100,000 per goal in the championship match.
The Super Eagles’ win over Algeria was widely hailed as one of their most assured performances of the tournament.
Nigeria displayed tactical discipline, intensity, and attacking confidence to overcome a traditionally strong North African side, keeping their title hopes alive.
Rabiu’s pledge comes amid growing national support and adds private-sector encouragement to the team as they prepare for the decisive stages of the tournament.
He praised the players for carrying the nation forward and urged them to continue making Nigerians proud in the quest for continental glory.
With on-field momentum, public enthusiasm, and financial backing now aligned, Nigeria’s Super Eagles enter the semi-finals of AFCON 2025 with high expectations and motivation to capture the trophy.
