CP Giwa,
The Enugu State Police Command has arrested four suspected members of a notorious “one-chance” robbery syndicate operating within Abakpa-Nike and other parts of Enugu metropolis.
Operatives attached to the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Squad arrested the suspects on January 10, 2026, at about 9:00 a.m., while they were allegedly prowling for unsuspecting victims with a tricycle, which was recovered during the operation.
A statement issued on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe, identified the suspects as Ndubuisi Achioko, 62; Nnaji Okeh, 55; Nwobodo Dennis, 57; and Chinedu Idam, 36, all residents of Abakpa-Nike, Enugu.
According to the police, the suspects confessed during interrogation to being members of a larger “one-chance” robbery syndicate operating mainly from the Abakpa-Nike axis of the state.
The suspects have since been arraigned before a competent court and remanded in Correctional Custody, while police have intensified efforts to identify, track and arrest other fleeing members of the syndicate.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, Mamman Bitrus Giwa, has reaffirmed the Command’s resolve to rid the state of “one-chance” robbery and other criminal activities.
He urged residents to remain vigilant, law-abiding and proactive by promptly reporting suspicious movements and criminal activities to the nearest police station or through established police emergency channels.
