Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has rejoined South African Premier Soccer League side Chippa United, five months after leaving the club by mutual agreement.
The club confirmed the return of the 30-year-old on Sunday in a statement posted on its official X account, expressing delight at welcoming the Nigerian international back ahead of the 2026/27 season.
“Chippa United Football Club is delighted to welcome Stanley Nwabali back to the Chilli Boys. After taking time away, Stanley Nwabali returns to the Eastern Cape, and we are pleased to welcome him back to the club,” the statement read.
Nwabali parted ways with Chippa United in February 2026 after both sides agreed to terminate his stay. At the time, the club praised his professionalism, dedication and immense contribution during his first spell.
The goalkeeper had been without a club since his departure, a situation that limited his playing time and saw him miss several Super Eagles matches.
Nwabali joined Chippa United from Katsina United in 2022 and became one of Nigeria’s most celebrated goalkeepers after his outstanding performances at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, where he played a crucial role in helping the Super Eagles reach the final.
