MainPower Electricity Distribution Limited (MEDL) has restored electricity supply to communities affected by a prolonged power outage in parts of Enugu metropolis.
Several areas under the Band A tariff classification experienced a blackout that lasted for about three days over the weekend, disrupting businesses and daily activities.
Confirming the restoration in a statement issued on Tuesday, the company’s Head of Communications, Emeka Ezeh, said power supply to the Gariki Injection Substation was successfully restored at about 8:30 p.m. on Monday following the repair of a major technical fault.
According to him, the outage was caused by a fault involving the indoor 11kV breaker at the substation, which occurred on Friday, July 17, and affected customers supplied through the Army and Gariki 11kV feeders.
He explained that with the successful completion of repair works, electricity has now been fully restored to all affected areas.
Ezeh expressed appreciation to customers for their patience, understanding and cooperation throughout the period of the outage.
He reaffirmed MainPower’s commitment to providing safe, reliable and improved electricity services, assuring residents that the company would continue to strengthen its network to ensure better service delivery.
MainPower Electricity Distribution Limited, a subsidiary of the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC), is responsible for electricity distribution across Enugu State.
