Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has expressed hope that she will leave the Presidential Villa in Abuja in 2031 and enjoy a more convenient life in the country, particularly when travelling.
She made the remarks on Saturday while inaugurating the Abuja headquarters of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, a grassroots political organisation mobilising support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
The First Lady said she looked forward to leaving Aso Rock at the end of the current presidential tenure and experiencing Nigeria as a woman in her seventies, with greater freedom to travel and enjoy the country.
“I want to leave Aso Rock, in 2031, by the grace of God, and enter a Nigeria that I, as a 70-something-year-old woman, will enjoy,” she said.
Mrs Tinubu also expressed optimism about improvements in the country’s aviation infrastructure, noting that changes at Nigerian airports could make travelling easier and more convenient.
“I want to get to the airport. I want to travel, you know, so quickly. And you can see our airports too are changing,” she added.
At the ceremony, the First Lady formally commissioned the movement’s Abuja campaign headquarters, dedicating the facility to the anticipated victory of President Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
She said the inauguration was in support of the president’s re-election bid, declaring:
“So to the glory of God, and for the victory of Mr President come 2027, I hereby formally commission the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement campaign headquarters Abuja.”
Mrs Tinubu also reaffirmed her support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, who convened the political movement.
