The ongoing trial of former Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman, at the Federal High Court in Abuja was stalled on Friday due to the unavailability of a court interpreter.
The matter, which was slated for continuation of a trial-within-trial, could not proceed as planned.
Prosecution counsel, A. O. Mohammed Esq, informed the court that he was unable to secure the services of an interpreter.
“He was informed that the official interpreter of the court was on an official engagement,” Mohammed told the court.
He therefore requested a short adjournment, citing the importance of having an interpreter present for the proceedings.
In response, defence counsel Emmanuel Hassan Esq raised no objection to the oral application made by the prosecution.
Following the submissions, Justice James Omotosho adjourned the trial to May 8 and 9 for further hearing.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is prosecuting Mamman on a 12-count charge, which includes conspiracy to commit money laundering.
