Veteran Nollywood actor, Clem Ohameze, has dismissed circulating rumours claiming he is suffering from a stroke and has been abandoned by his children.
In a video obtained by DAILY GAZETTE on Saturday, Ohameze vehemently refuted the claims, stating that the allegations were fabricated by a Facebook user.
He disclosed that both the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services (DSS) have been notified and are now involved in the matter.
“I have initiated a police case. I’ve sent the culprit’s name and phone number to the authorities. This is a clear case of cybercrime,” Ohameze said.
“I also reached out to a friend who is a director in the DSS. I’ve worked too hard to get to where I am, and I won’t let anyone tarnish my name for cheap popularity or page traffic.”
Expressing deep frustration, the actor condemned the spread of false narratives about his health and family, referencing a previous rumour about his death.
“The other time, they said I was dead. Now they claim I’ve had a stroke. Who did I grant such an interview to? Do I even have three sons? This is all nonsense,” he added.
Ohameze also revealed that he had to reassure his family, particularly his daughter, who was the only one aware of the rumour at the time.
“Why wouldn’t someone just reach out to me directly to confirm before posting such lies? Now, my name has been dragged globally. I had to call my children to clarify. Thankfully, only my daughter heard about it.”
The viral post falsely claimed that the 60-year-old actor had been living with a stroke for over 20 years and had been abandoned by his sons, with only his daughter caring for him.
The fabricated statement attributed to Ohameze described a scenario where his daughter was portrayed as his sole caregiver, while his sons allegedly distanced themselves.
The actor has firmly rejected all aspects of the story, calling it malicious and hurtful, and reaffirmed that he is healthy and still active.
