Women of Isi-Uzo Local Government Area in Enugu State have pledged their full support for the re-election of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, citing unprecedented developmental strides and direct impact on women’s welfare under his administration.
The declaration was made during the 2025 Isi-Uzo Women Convention, themed “Beyond Protest and Role of Women in Community Development.” The event drew a large turnout of women, traditional leaders, political figures, and key stakeholders.
Convener of the event and wife of the Isi-Uzo Council Chairman, Mrs. Onyinye Obeagu, praised Governor Mbah for his commitment to grassroots development, particularly the establishment of Type 2 Primary Healthcare Centres and Smart Green Schools across all wards in the LGA.
She also lauded the governor’s wife for her work through the Custos Care Foundation, which has significantly improved healthcare and welfare for women and children.
“We have never seen this level of impact under any previous administration,” she stated.
“We deeply appreciate both the governor and the First Lady and reaffirm our unwavering support for this government.”
The Isi-Uzo Council Chairman, Barr. Obiora Obeagu, echoed similar sentiments, applauding Mrs. Mbah for her dedication to women’s advancement and pledging to continue prioritizing women’s empowerment within the LGA.
Representing the Enugu State First Lady at the event, Barr. Chidinmma Egonu encouraged the women to strengthen community bonds and build their capacities for development.
She reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to empowering women in health, education, agriculture, and skills acquisition.
Also speaking on behalf of Mrs. Mbah, Dr. Blessing Egodi, Managing Director of Custos Care Foundation, commended the peace and resilience of Isi-Uzo women and acknowledged the governor’s efforts in enhancing security across the state.
Dr. Ify Ani-Osheku, Executive Secretary of the Enugu State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, highlighted the Council’s achievements in healthcare, including the enrollment of 5,000 residents into the state’s Health Insurance Scheme.
The event’s climax featured the distribution of palliatives and empowerment items such as bags of rice, wrappers, and essential household goods.
Widows and other beneficiaries expressed deep gratitude to the First Lady, promising to spread the benefits to their communities.
