As Nigeria marks its 65th Independence Anniversary, Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah has extended warm felicitations to the people of Enugu State and Nigerians at large, urging citizens to draw inspiration from the nation’s journey and recommit to unity, sacrifice, and shared progress.
In a heartfelt Independence Day message released on Tuesday, Governor Mbah described the anniversary as a symbol of resilience, possibility, and hope, noting that Nigeria’s journey since 1960 reflects what can be achieved when people are united in purpose.
“Our independence is a reminder of what we can achieve as a people when united. It also teaches that progress demands sacrifice and that tomorrow is shaped by the choices we make today,” the Governor stated.
While acknowledging the economic challenges facing the country, Governor Mbah praised the reform efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which he said are already stabilizing key areas of the economy.
He urged Nigerians to remain patient and focused, assuring that the current sacrifices would ultimately lead to long-term prosperity.
“The sacrifices may be huge today, but there is no doubt that the end will vindicate the decisions if we stay the course,” he added.
Turning to developments in Enugu State, Governor Mbah reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance and transformational reforms aimed at improving lives and delivering tangible progress across all sectors.
He highlighted several key initiatives, including the revitalization of moribund assets and state-owned enterprises, enhanced public security leading to a renewed sense of safety among residents, the transformation of the education sector with 260 Smart Green Schools, the rollout of 260 Type 2 Primary Healthcare Centres in rural communities as well as investments in modern infrastructure and transportation systems.
“Enugu is firmly on the pathway to turnaround and exponential growth,” Mbah declared.
“This Independence Day offers us the opportunity to recommit to our pledge of making inclusion the cornerstone of governance, creating wealth, and deploying it for the benefit of everyone.”
Governor Mbah concluded his message by calling on Nigerians to renew their covenant with the country, uphold the spirit of unity, and continue to nurture the optimism that has carried the nation through decades of change and challenge.
“Happy 65th Independence Anniversary, Ndi Enugu. God bless Enugu State. God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
