The Anambra State Government has approved contracts totalling about ₦4.7bn for roadworks, electricity expansion, and other critical infrastructure across the state.

According to a statement released on Tuesday, the Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, said the approvals were part of major decisions reached at the 23rd State Executive Council meeting held on Monday at the Light House, Awka.

Mefor said one of the highlights of the meeting was the state’s plan to deliver an unforgettable December celebration for residents under the banner “Onwa Dezemba.”

The festivities, he noted, would take place at the Solution Fun City, Awka, and the newly remodelled Ekwueme Square.

He described the planned programme as a “Christmas unlike any other,” featuring masquerade festivals, Christmas carols, musical shows, and performances by prominent Nigerian artistes.

Mefor also reiterated the government’s commitment to awarding projects based on strategic importance and areas of greatest need.
