A Nigerian Air Force (NAF) ATR-42 aircraft carrying 32 people has crashed near the Naval Base in Igbokoda, Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The aircraft, with tail number NGR 931, was on a routine flight from Benin to Lagos when air traffic controllers lost contact with it at about 9:13 am on Monday, October 5, 2026.
Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, confirmed the incident, saying subsequent information established that the aircraft had crashed close to the Naval Base in Igbokoda.
Keyamo said the wreckage had been located and that search and rescue operations were underway.
Preliminary information indicated that 25 passengers and seven crew members were aboard the aircraft, bringing the total number of people on board to 32.
