President Bola Tinubu has assured Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, that he would not regret his decision to embrace peace and respect the intervention of elders in resolving the political crisis that rocked the state.
Tinubu gave the assurance on Saturday while addressing supporters at the All Progressives Congress (APC) 2027 presidential campaign rally in Rivers State.
The president commended Fubara for what he described as maturity, understanding and respect for the counsel of elders, particularly following his intervention in the protracted political dispute between the governor and his political opponents.
Tinubu noted that Fubara’s decision to accept the intervention and maintain peace had helped restore stability in the state.
He specifically thanked the governor for cooperating with those who intervened in the crisis, describing him as a committed democrat.
“To me, I intervened on your behalf. Similarly, to Fubara, Your Excellency, the host governor of today, I want to thank you specifically for maturity, understanding, respect for the wisdom of elders.
“When we intervened, you respected our position. You maintained peace. You are a committed democrat, Fubara. You will not regret what you have done as long as all of us are alive,” Tinubu said.
The president also acknowledged the contributions of Nigerian youths towards sustaining peace and stability, urging them to remain committed to the cause.
