PDP’s Call For Foreign Intervention ‘Dangerous, Unpatriotic’ – APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has condemned the newly declared factional chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Tanimu Turaki, for urging foreign nations to intervene in Nigeria.

Turaki, speaking to journalists, had called on international powers to step in not only to halt what he described as Christian genocide but also to protect Nigeria’s democracy.

In response, the APC described Turaki’s remarks as reckless, unpatriotic, and a sign that he is overwhelmed by the crisis within his party.

In a statement by its spokesman, Felix Morka, the ruling party noted that Turaki had only been declared chairman by a PDP faction three days prior and should have focused on reconciling the party’s internal factions rather than calling for outside interference.

“Instead, his first major action was to call for foreign intervention in Nigeria, something the APC describes as shameful and a serious threat to national security and sovereignty,” the statement said.

The party also recalled that during the PDP’s 16 years in power, no leader had ever suggested inviting foreign forces to resolve internal political disputes, despite its tough treatment of opposition parties.

According to the APC, Turaki’s statement exposes the PDP’s inability to manage its internal conflicts and reflects a party in disarray.

The statement urged the international community to disregard what it called a “disgraceful and unpatriotic appeal” and described Turaki’s remarks as evidence of the opposition’s desperation:

“We trust the international community to dismiss the PDP’s disgraceful and unpatriotic call as a pitiful distraction from the failure of its internal democracy and embarrassing disintegration.”

“The heightened desperation of the PDP and other opposition leaders is now clear for all to see. Turaki’s call shows how far they are willing to go, even to the extent of actively seeking destructive intervention of foreign powers on Nigerian soil in order to serve their sinister political agenda.”

FG To Introduce Tiv, Nupe Degree Programmes In Nigerian Universities

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has announced plans to introduce Tiv and Nupe as full-fledged degree programmes in Nigerian universities, a move aimed at preserving and promoting the country’s linguistic heritage.

The initiative, spearheaded by NUC Executive Secretary Professor Abdullahi Ribadu, will formalize the study of these languages at the bachelor’s degree level.

Experts from Nigerian universities have been engaged to develop the Core Curriculum Minimum Academic Standards (CCMAS) for the new programmes.

Previously offered primarily as elective courses or research subjects, Tiv and Nupe will now have structured curricula designed to produce graduates with advanced knowledge in linguistics, literature, and socio-cultural contexts.

The programmes also aim to strengthen cultural preservation and prevent the gradual extinction of these languages.

According to NUC records, the lead consultants for the programmes are Professors Mary Adebayo (Tiv) and Rebecca K. D. (Nupe).

Supporting the development of the curricula are Professors Muhammad Alkali and Musa Bawa for Tiv, and Professors John Akosu Adeiyongo and Nguton Sambe for Nupe.

The panels also include NUC representatives Florence Onuoha, Chinenye Augustine, Kate Omotayo Onaiyekan, and Hadiza Kalla.

A four-day workshop was held at the NUC Secretariat from October 21 to 24, 2025, bringing the experts together to draft the CCMAS framework for the programmes.

Tiv is widely spoken in Benue State and surrounding areas, while Nupe is prevalent in Niger, Kogi, and Kwara states.

Graduates of these programmes will be equipped to teach, research, and promote the languages in schools, media, and cultural institutions.

Kebbi Abduction: Students Give Detailed Account, Make Shocking Revelations About How Bandits Attacked Their School

Khadijat Lawal, a Senior Secondary School 3 student at the Government Comprehensive Girls Secondary School, Maga, in Danko Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, described the traumatic events of Monday morning, when gunmen attacked her school and abducted dozens of girls.

Khadijat spoke to DAILY GAZETTE through her father, Malam Lawal Altine, who has three children attending the school.

Narrating her experience, she said she and other students were asleep in their hostel when they heard voices outside and attempts to force open the hostel door.

“This was a few minutes to 5am,” she said.

Khadijat added, “A few minutes after that, they started shooting sporadically into the air and I and my two sisters rushed to hide in one of the school’s toilets.”

She continued, “When the bandits burst into the hostel, my two sisters panicked and came out from where they were hiding in the toilet and they were immediately marched out with other girls who had been taken from other hostels in the school.”

“I remained where I had locked myself up in the toilet until when parents and other people came to the school shouting and asking about the whereabouts of their children.”

“My daughter refused to open the door until she heard my voice. She was lucky, but her other sisters are still missing. I’m worried and sick about their whereabouts,” Mal. Altine said.

About 24 hours after the abduction, parents were still at the school, hoping for the safe return of their children.

Hajiya Rani Maga, mother of one of the abducted girls, has not left the school premises since Monday morning.

Tearfully, she said, “I will not eat until my daughter returns home. I still find it difficult to believe that my daughter had been abducted by the bandits. I don’t think I can return home without my daughter.”

“Every minute my mind is with her. I don’t know what is going on with her or where they took her and I’m afraid because she is in the hands of bad people. I know government has intervened and given us hope that our daughters will return to us; but how soon? I appeal to both the state and federal government to urge security agents to find our daughters as soon as possible. The longer they stay with captors the more dangerous the situation will be.”

Amina Hassan, wife of the school’s head of security, Yakubu Makuku, who was killed during the attack, also recounted the horror she witnessed. “

It was around 4 am on Monday and my husband and I were in bed when we heard the entrance door being forced opened. I woke my husband up but he thought it was the goats that were there.”

“But suddenly, armed men burst into our room and they asked him to take them to the girls’ hostel. He refused and they shot him. I rushed to hold him, but they pushed me aside and moved on to the hostel.”

“I don’t know how they managed to abduct the girls, but I heard them screaming and crying. It’s still a nightmare to me,” she said.

Since the attack, the community has largely remained indoors, fearful of further violence. Abubakar Dabai, a community member and relative of one of the abducted girls’ fathers, said, “Everyone is scared.”

“We can’t even go to our farms as we don’t know what will happen next. But the governor was here yesterday and he assured us of our safety. He said government would deploy more security agents to find the girls. We want to believe him. We will also continue to pray for the quick return of our girls.”

Aminu Usman Lawal, father of Hauwa, another abducted girl, said he was preparing to go to the farm when he received news of the attack.

“I just continue to wonder why this happened to me, but I know Allah will secure my girl and others. Since the incident happened, people in the community have been living in fear; everyone feels insecure. Government should help us by deploying more security agents here so that people can feel safe enough to go to their farms and engage in their daily activities.”

Fatima Ibrahim, mother of another abducted girl, added, “I just want my daughter back. I don’t care about anything else. Please, just bring her back home safely.”

The Kebbi State Government clarified that 26 students, not 25, were abducted from the school. Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Dr. Halimatu Muhammad Bande, said, “Two of them, Salmat and Hauwa escaped from them. We now have 24 of them with the bandits.”

She emphasized the clarification was necessary due to misleading media reports. Dr. Bande added that Governor Nasir Idris and the federal government have deployed security personnel to locate the girls.

“Let us continue to pray for them. We don’t know where they are and what they are doing to the girls but God will bring them back to us safely,” she said.

Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, Chief of Army Staff, visited Maga to meet with the District Head of Danko, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim, and the school principal, Hajiya Rabi Musa Magaji.

He pledged to do everything possible to rescue the girls and instructed Operation FANSAN YANMA troops to intensify efforts. He stated, “We must find these children. Act decisively and professionally on all intelligence. Success is not optional.”

He also urged collaboration with local vigilantes and hunters, describing them as key partners in tracking the abductors.

The Senate, concerned about the national security situation, urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to recruit at least 100,000 youths into the armed forces.

Senator Abdullahi Yahaya (APC, Kebbi North) described the insecurity as “alarming” and requiring urgent action.

Senator Abdul Ningi (PDP Bauchi Central) called it an “existential threat,” while Senator Aminu Tambuwal (PDP, Sokoto South) warned that failure to unite against insecurity would jeopardize Nigeria’s future.

Other senators called for modern intelligence technology, better security around schools, and accountability for funds under the Safe School Programme.

Senator Adams Oshiomhole stressed that new recruits must be “adequately trained and equipped to confront bandits, terrorists, and other violent groups terrorising citizens.”

First Lady Oluremi Tinubu described the abduction as “an assault on the values of safety and learning that schools embody” and prayed for the girls’ quick return. The Northern States Governors’ Forum (NSGF) also condemned the attack as “tragic, senseless and utterly unacceptable.”

A statement from NSGF chairman, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, stressed, “Schools must be sanctuaries of learning, not targets of violence.

Continued assaults on educational institutions threaten to reverse gains made in improving school enrolment and curbing the out-of-school crisis in the region.”

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) called the attack “devastating” and noted that it occurred on International Students’ Day.

Olushola Oladoja, NANS president, said, “Nigeria cannot continue to deploy reactive measures only after lives have been destroyed and families shattered.

“Our schools must never be playgrounds for terrorists; our daughters must never again be turned into bargaining chips in the hands of criminals.”

UNICEF urged the Nigerian government to implement stronger measures to protect children and educational institutions. Sussan Akila, UNICEF Communication Specialist, said,

“This tragic incident is yet another stark reminder of the urgent need to protect children, schools, and the personnel they rely upon to learn safely. We stand with the affected community at this difficult time.”

UNICEF emphasized the swift and safe release of the abducted students and that those responsible must be held accountable under national and international law.

Shettima To Visit Kebbi After Abduction Of Over 25 Schoolgirls

Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, will travel to Kebbi State on Wednesday on the directive of President Bola Tinubu, following the abduction of students from the Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga, Ribah.

According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Shettima will meet with the state government and reassure the parents and guardians of the kidnapped students that the Federal Government is working to secure their release.

President Tinubu also extended his condolences to the Nigerian military over the death of soldiers, including Brigadier General Musa Uba, who was killed while fighting insurgents in Borno State.

“As the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, I am deeply saddened by the tragic death of our soldiers and officers on active duty. May God comfort the families of Brigadier General Musa Uba and other fallen heroes,” the President said.

“I am also pained that heartless terrorists have disrupted the education of innocent schoolgirls. I have directed the security agencies to act swiftly and bring the girls back to Kebbi State.”

Tinubu praised Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris for efforts made to prevent the attack, while expressing concern over the security lapse that enabled the abduction.

He urged community leaders and residents, particularly in vulnerable areas, to provide intelligence that could support security operations.

“Our security forces cannot succeed in protecting us without the cooperation of local communities.”

“I urge community leaders and citizens, particularly in areas facing security challenges, to share useful intelligence. Your cooperation is crucial in our fight against insecurity,” he said.

The attackers reportedly struck shortly after leaving the school’s staff quarters.

In the process, the school’s vice principal, Hassan Makuku, was fatally shot as he attempted to shield students from the gunmen.

Witnesses described a scene of panic, noting that the assailants encountered no resistance.

Kebbi State Police spokesperson, Nafiu Abubakar, confirmed the incident and said a combined team of police tactical units, soldiers, and vigilantes has been deployed to comb surrounding forests in search of the abducted girls and their captors.

Governor Idris, through his Chief Press Secretary, Ahmed Idris, announced that Deputy Governor Umar Tafida had visited the school to assess the situation, while the governor, who is currently out of the state, continues to monitor developments.

Residents remain in mourning over Makuku’s death, while anxious parents await news as rescue operations intensify.

I Have Conducted Over 70 Mass Burials For Christians Killed By Islamic Extremists – Rev Dachomo Tells British Journalist

Plateau State cleric, Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, has disclosed that he has presided over more than 70 mass burials in the aftermath of what he described as widespread killings of Christians in Nigeria by Islamic extremists.

Speaking during an interview with British journalist Piers Morgan, the clergyman alleged that the Nigerian government has failed to address the attacks or protect affected communities.

“I have performed several genocide burials, more than 70 times. Some of the graves are five hundred and one people killed in just one night,” he said.

According to him, these incidents have been minimized by authorities. “The Nigerian government downplayed that one because the Islamic are controlling the government,” he claimed.

Rev. Dachomo also asserted that the Boko Haram terrorist organisation was created by certain government officials with the intention of unseating former President Goodluck Jonathan.

He alleged that these actions were part of a broader attempt to displace Christians from leadership and install a Muslim president.

“The background of the initial fact-finding is that many high-ranking government officials created Boko Haram to remove Goodluck Jonathan, who is a Christian,” he said.

“They caused riots in every village, and the people ran away; they were relocated. Their target is to kill the Christians because Goodluck is a Christian. That’s why Goodluck said ‘my blood is not worth it’,” he added.

Terrorists Kill Three, Kidnap Pastor, Worshippers In CAC Church Attack

Eruku town in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State was thrown into chaos on Tuesday evening after terrorists attacked a branch of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), killing three worshippers and abducting several others, including the pastor.

According to sources, the gunmen stormed the church while a meeting was in progress and immediately opened fire, causing worshippers to scatter in panic.

Three members were killed instantly before the attackers rounded up others and whisked them away.

“The gunmen came in suddenly and started shooting. Three people were killed instantly,” a source recounted.

“They gathered others at gunpoint and marched them into the bush. We still don’t know the exact number taken.”

The terrorists were said to have escaped through bush paths linking Eruku to other neighbouring communities, leaving the town in distress and uncertainty.

Earlier in the evening, social media was inundated with reports of widespread panic across Eruku following a coordinated invasion by heavily armed terrorists.

The attack forced residents and travellers to abandon their vehicles and flee into the surrounding bushes for safety.

Witnesses said the attackers entered through one of the main routes into the town, firing continuously as they advanced and causing a wave of fear across the community.

Sustained gunshots were reportedly heard as the invaders pushed further into the area.

A traveller who narrowly escaped documented his ordeal in a shaky video recorded from his hiding place in the bush.

In the footage, he desperately called for security assistance while loud gunfire echoed in the background.

“This is 18-11-2025. On my way coming back from the Federal Poly, Bida, Niger State, we were coming through Ilorin road when they started shooting. Everybody has scattered into the bush,” he said in panic.

“Please, come to our rescue. We are in trouble. They are shooting everywhere. People have abandoned their vehicles. The community is in chaos. Please help us.”

The terrorists reportedly moved from one community to another, unleashing violence without resistance and leaving casualties in their wake.

As of the time of filing this report, neither the Kwara State Police Command nor the state government has issued an official statement regarding the attacks.

Enugu Court Remands Two Over Alleged Defamation Of Federal Lawmaker

A Magistrate Court in Enugu North has ordered two Ebonyi State residents—Chisom Acho (22) and Chinonso Imeba (28)—to be remanded in the Enugu Correctional Centre over allegations of cyberstalking and defamation against a serving federal lawmaker.

The defendants appeared before Magistrate S. O. Chukwuani of Enugu North Magistrate Court 1 on Tuesday.

They are accused of circulating videos on social media in which they allegedly claimed that Hon. Chinedu Ogah was involved in murder and ritual activities.

The charges filed against them include conspiracy and cyberstalking.

In the charge sheet numbered CYREN/693/2025, police alleged that the pair, together with unidentified accomplices, “between the months of September 2025 and October 2025 at Obed Camp, Ngenevu, Enugu… did conspire among yourselves to commit felony to wit: cyberstalking and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 27 of the Cyber Crime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2015 (as amended) 2024.”

They were further accused of spreading defamatory content via Facebook and TikTok.

According to the police, the defendants “knowingly or intentionally made video publications through Facebook and TikTok handles ‘Ikwo Pluto’ and ‘Pluto777’ respectively, using the picture of Rt. Hon. Chinedu N. Ogah, OON, stating that ‘Rt. Hon. Chinedu N. Ogah, OON killed some youths from Item Amagu, collected their talents, made some of the youths to go mad and used some for ritual purposes,’ and sent same to social media platforms and the internet, which has ridiculed his image and damaged his reputation.”

These allegations are brought under Section 24(2)(a)(b) and Section 27 of the Cybercrime Act. The court did not take their plea, as the matter had already been forwarded for legal review, according to prosecuting counsel CSP Justice Allah.

Represented by lawyers Chijioke Ugwueze and Samuel Ede, the defendants sought bail, but the magistrate declined and ordered their remand. The case has been adjourned until December 2, pending legal advice from the Office of the Attorney-General.

Speaking after the proceedings, Ugwueze outlined what comes next:

“The matter came up today for arraignment and they were arraigned under Federal laws bordering on cyberstalking.”

He added:

“The court, having looked at the weight of the charge, declined jurisdiction and had the defendants remanded in prison custody pending the opinion of the Director of Public Prosecution, DPP. So, we will take it up from there and do the needful.”
