2027: Enugu APC Stakeholders Endorse Tinubu For Second Term, Ready To Receive Gov. Mbah Into Party Fold

Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State have thrown their weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as their preferred candidate for the 2027 presidential election.

The group also expressed its willingness to welcome Governor Peter Mbah into the APC and support his re-election bid regardless of his current party affiliation.

This resolution was announced by Dr. Ben Nwoye, former APC chairman in Enugu State, during a gathering dubbed The Progressives Stakeholders Meeting, held in the state capital.

According to Nwoye, the decisions were based on the alignment of shared progressive ideals and President Tinubu’s prior encouragement for political leaders in the state to support Governor Mbah.

“One of the first motions was for us to agree to receive Peter Mbah into the fold of the APC if he decides to join the party. That motion was unanimously passed, that we, the APC in Enugu State, will be happy and eager to receive Governor Peter Mbah into our fold to lead us,” Nwoye stated.

He further explained that “In line with Mr. President’s directive, another motion was moved to support Peter Mbah for 2027, to be elected for a second term, irrespective of party. The progressives in Enugu State, the APC, have declared that they will support Peter Mbah for a second term in 2027.”

The meeting also highlighted major federal interventions attributed to President Tinubu’s administration, which have impacted Enugu State positively.

These include the signing into law of the Federal University of Agriculture for Enugu, the appointment of an Enugu-born Chief of Naval Staff, and the planned establishment of a naval base and school within the state.

“That project will not only help to secure Enugu State’s waterways and inland water areas but will also boost employment, increase the number of our citizens joining the Navy, and provide more opportunities for our youths through the Naval School,” Nwoye added.

He also described the appointment of a native of Nsukka as the Vice Chancellor of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), as a landmark achievement and an example of federal-state cooperation fostering development.

During the meeting, a third resolution was also adopted, formally declaring President Tinubu as the APC’s candidate of choice in Enugu State for the 2027 general election.

“We adopted all these motions as our resolution. What you observed is a process, it was not done in hiding. It was a process carried out openly, with grassroots participation from all the 260 wards and 17 local governments of Enugu State,” Nwoye emphasized.

He used the occasion to call out some APC leaders, accusing them of derailing the party’s performance in past elections.

“We will ensure that never happens again. My ward, Amuri Ward, alone will deliver more than 4,772 votes in 2027. If we replicate this across the state, victory is guaranteed for Tinubu,” Nwoye declared, in a jab at Minister Uche Nnaji and suspended ex-chairman Ugo Agballa, whom he accused of pushing a failed project called “Project 4772.”

He appealed to Governor Mbah to ensure that federal appointments for Enugu State are made strictly from among loyal and qualified APC members.

“We do not want people from Anambra, Abia, or Ebonyi States, under any capacity, to influence federal appointments in our state. Let His Excellency, Dr. Peter Mbah, make appointments through the people who have worked for APC, based on merit and not on personal relationships,” he concluded.

Enugu Catholic Women Embark On Protest, Clear Priest In Viral Video Of Any Wrongdoing

Protesting women of St. Paul’s Parish,

Members of the Catholic Women Organisation (CWO) of St. Paul’s Parish, Ibuzor Amokwe, in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State, on Sunday staged a peaceful solidarity protest in defense of their Parish Priest, following a viral video showing him in a dispute with members of an outstation church.

The video, obtained by DAILY GAZETTE, which sparked conversations online, captured a confrontation between the priest and CWO members of St. Mary’s Church, Idedu, an outstation of St. Paul’s Parish.

The incident reportedly stemmed from the priest’s objection to a parallel August Meeting organized by the women of the outstation.

While many social media users had questioned the priest’s conduct, members of the mother parish, St. Paul’s, took to the streets to publicly clear him of any wrongdoing.

Displaying placards bearing messages of unity and peace, the protesting women reaffirmed their loyalty and support for the priest’s efforts to maintain order within the parish structure.

Some of the inscriptions on the placards include “St. Paul’s CWO Amokwe is behind the parish priest in his quest to seek peace among the CWO of the parish”, Enugu Diocese, please ask St. Mary’s Idedu outstation to allow for peace in St. Paul’s Parish Amokwe”, “CWO St. Paul’s Parish is solidly behind our parish priest” among others.

Speaking to DAILY GAZETTE, a parishioner who pleaded anonymity said tensions had been growing between the parish leadership and the women of the St. Mary’s outstation over calls for independence.

“They’ve been pushing for the creation of their own parish and have stopped showing obedience to the mother parish,” the source said.

“Their decision to organize an independent August Meeting without the parish’s approval was the tipping point.”

According to Catholic Church tradition, outstations are subject to the administrative oversight of their parent parishes unless officially elevated.

The protesting women urged the Enugu Catholic Diocese to intervene, urging leaders at St. Mary’s outstation to work towards peace and unity.

At the time of filing this report, no official statement has been released by the Diocese.

NYSC Withholds Raye’s Certificate, Extends Service Year; Atiku, Falana React

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has withheld the discharge certificate of Lagos-based corps member, Ushie Rita Uguamaye, popularly known as Raye, citing her failure to attend a mandatory clearance in April 2025.

The service has extended her service year by two months, sparking criticism from notable public figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and human rights lawyer Femi Falana (SAN).

Raye, who gained public attention in March after posting a viral TikTok video criticising President Bola Tinubu’s administration over worsening economic conditions, has been accused by some of being targeted for her political views.

However, the NYSC has denied any political motive. In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), the service clarified that Raye’s sanction was a result of her absence during April’s biometrics clearance and had nothing to do with her viral remarks.

“Contrary to false claims that she was denied a Certificate of National Service (CNS) due to critical remarks about the government, this assertion is entirely unfounded and false in its entirety,” the statement read.

“Rita is among the 131 Corps Members whose Certificates of National Service (CNS) were withheld for valid disciplinary reasons. Specifically, Rita’s service year has been extended by two months for failing to attend the April 2025 biometrics clearance, a decision that aligns with the NYSC Bye-Laws.”

The NYSC insisted that the action was procedural and not personal:

“It is important to note that this extension is a standard procedure and not unique to her case, and the principle of equal treatment was only applied in this case.”

The agency urged the public to avoid politicizing the matter and said it remained committed to fair treatment under the law.

Reacting to the development, Femi Falana described the NYSC’s decision as “overzealous” and “illegal,” arguing that no court had authorized the withholding of Raye’s certificate.

He drew parallels to a similar incident in 1988 when Bamidele Aturu’s certificate was seized for rejecting a best corps member award during a military regime.

“Indeed, it is a sad reminder of the confiscation of the NYSC Discharge Certificate of Bamidele Aturu… under the Ibrahim Babangida military junta when human rights were put in abeyance,” he said.

Falana also cited Section 39 of the 1999 Constitution, which guarantees freedom of expression, and referenced President Tinubu’s Democracy Day speech, where the president discouraged public officials from suppressing dissent.

“The President declared, ‘While slander and libel must not go unaddressed, no one should suffer injustice for simply writing a negative report about me or calling me.’”

Falana urged NYSC to “release the NYSC Discharge Certificate of Rita Uguamaye without any further delay.”

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar also condemned the action, suggesting it may be politically motivated.

“What manner of impunity is this? Everything should not be subjected to politics,” he wrote on X.

“I hope that Ushie Rita Uguamaye’s NYSC discharge certificate is not being withheld because she had the courage to complain about the economic hardship under the President Bola Tinubu-led administration.”

Atiku called on the NYSC and relevant authorities to immediately issue the certificate, noting that she had “served her country without queries.”

“It is unacceptable that the young lady… should not have received her National Youth Service Corps certificate one year after passing out,” he added.

EERC Steps In As Tariff Dispute Triggers Widespread Power Outages In Enugu

The Enugu State Electricity Regulatory Commission (EERC) has announced urgent intervention measures following severe electricity disruptions across the state.

The outages stemmed from a tariff disagreement between power providers and regulators.

MainPower Electricity Distribution Company Limited, in a statement last week, blamed the drop in electricity supply on its parent company, the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC), which scaled down power allocation.

The move came after EERC slashed the electricity tariff for Band A customers from N209/kWh to N160/kWh.

In response, the EERC issued a public notice on Sunday, confirming it had held a meeting with both MainPower and EEDC on Thursday, August 7, 2025, to address the situation.

The commission explained:

“Sequel to the public announcement from MainPower which stated that EEDC, its parent company, directed the curtailing of power supply to Bands B to E Feeders, and the challenges in vending being experienced by the customers in Enugu State, the Enugu State Electricity Regulatory Commission (the Commission) invited MainPower Electricity Distribution Limited (MainPower) to a meeting on Thursday 7th August, 2025 to ascertain the reasons for the decision to curtail power supply in Enugu State and vending challenges being experienced by customers.”

During the meeting, MainPower attributed the disruption to technical issues:

“During the meeting, MainPower explained that they (MainPower and EEDC) were having difficulties separating Enugu State from the rest of the States in the coverage area of EEDC, which challenge was termed ‘code coverage conflicts and related glitches,’ but gave assurance that the issue would be sorted out very soon.”

The Commission also directed MainPower to keep customers informed of ongoing efforts to resolve vending issues:

“The Commission, however, mandated MainPower to formally communicate with the customers on vending challenges and efforts being made to resolve it.”

EERC criticized the supply curtailment, calling it an inappropriate response to the tariff order. It emphasized due process as outlined in its regulatory framework:

“As regards the curtailing of power supply in Enugu, and their dissatisfaction with the Tariff Order from the Commission, thereby plunging parts of the state into darkness, the Commission reminded MainPower of the provisions of the Commission’s Business Rules, which require that they make a formal petition within thirty (30) days of the Commission’s Order if they were not satisfied with the Order, instead of resulting in curtailing of supply. The petition will enable a public hearing on the Tariff Order to which the outcome will be implemented. The Business Rules is accessible to all stakeholders on the Commission’s website (www.eerc.en.gov.ng).”

Reaffirming its commitment to a stable and transparent electricity market, the Commission said it was engaging stakeholders at various levels to ensure both regulatory compliance and fair treatment for all parties:

“The Commission is consulting with relevant stakeholders at the state and federal level and will endeavour to apply appropriate regulatory approach in dealing with this issue to ensure that developers, service providers, customers and Ndi Enugu get the full benefit of the evolving subnational electricity market in the State.”

On the issue of sustainability, the Commission assured that fair business practices would be upheld:

“We will also ensure that MainPower recovers sufficient revenue that covers their efficient costs of doing business in Enugu State plus a fair return on capital invested, as provided in section 34 (2)(b) of the Enugu State Electricity Law 2023.”

2027: Imo Govt Slams Governorship Aspirant Chima Amadi, Says He Lacks Credible Agenda

Gov. Uzodimma,

The Imo State Government has come out strongly against governorship aspirant Chima Amadi, accusing him of lacking a credible agenda and resorting to misinformation in an attempt to gain political relevance.

In a statement released on Sunday, Declan Emelumba, the Commissioner for Information, Public Orientation and Strategy, criticized Amadi for spreading “fabricated statistics and baseless claims intended to mislead and provoke unrest.”

“Instead of unveiling a serious manifesto or plan for Imo people,” Emelumba said, “he has resorted to attacking the government with lies and discredited data.”

Amadi had, while speaking at a seminar hosted by the Catholic Men Organization in Owerri on Thursday, alleged that Imo State had the highest maternal mortality rate in NigeriaNigeria, 1,863 deaths per 100,000 live births, which he attributed to poor healthcare facilities in the state.

However, Emelumba dismissed the figure as fiction.

“Contrary to Amadi’s claim,” the commissioner responded, “the actual figure for maternal mortality in Imo State is 163 deaths per 100,000 live births,” citing kingmakers.com.ng as the source.

He further pointed out that the state’s maternal mortality rate is far below the national average of 993 per 100,000 live births.

“Governor Hope Uzodimma believes it must keep declining, with zero as the ultimate target,” Emelumba added.

“This is why the government has sustained spirited efforts to expand access to maternal care and improve outcomes for mothers and babies across the state.”

Responding to Amadi’s assertion that health facilities in Imo are poorly maintained, Emelumba described the claim as “not only false but laughable.”

According to him, “In December 2021, Imo was honoured by the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare for running the Best State Health Promotion Campaign.”

He further questioned Amadi’s understanding of governance, saying, “This is a man who wants to govern Imo State, yet he doesn’t know the constitutional framework of governance. It’s embarrassing.”

Amadi also accused Governor Uzodimma of seizing control of local government allocations, claiming that “nothing has been done at the local government level in the last five years.”

Emelumba strongly denied the allegations.

“The facts speak for themselves: five kilometres of road have been constructed in each of the 27 LGAs. Local councils have also signed an MoU with the Orashi Electricity Company to deliver 24-hour electricity to their communities. And no local government worker is owed a salary in Imo State,” he affirmed.

On education, Amadi alleged that public schools in Imo are declining. But the commissioner countered with statistics and records of achievements under Uzodimma’s administration.

“Under Governor Uzodimma, over 305 primary schools and dozens of secondary schools have been rebuilt, labs and libraries restored, and teacher morale boosted with extended retirement age and regular pay,” Emelumba stated.

“Imo students now excel in WAEC, NECO, and JAMB. At the tertiary level, Imo is funding five institutions, a regional first, and just secured a fifth federal university with a N39 billion take-off grant. Lost accreditations in medical and nursing schools have been restored. If this is what Amadi calls failure, he’s clearly not paying attention.”

The commissioner argued that governance requires more than populist rhetoric.

“Governance is not about throwing money around or demonising the incumbent government to score cheap political points,” he said.

“Even if Amadi were to become governor of Imo State by accident, it would take him more than eight years to match what Uzodimma has delivered in just five.”

He concluded by issuing a challenge to the aspirant.

“This is not about rabble-rousing. This is not about stoking resentment. Governance requires vision, capacity, and substance, attributes that are far away from the Chima Amadi that spoke at Assumpta on Thursday,” Emelumba said.

He urged Amadi to publish “a credible action plan for Imo State that matches the scale, ambition, and execution plan of Governor Uzodimma’s pre-candidacy blueprint as the APC governorship candidate in 2019.”

“Until then,” he warned, “he should stop gallivanting across the state inciting innocent citizens and pretending to be what he is not; because the more he does, the more he exposes his emptiness and incapacity to govern even a local government area.”

PDP Slams Okpebholo Over N3.5bn International Trips With No FDI Results

The Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has criticised the administration of Governor Monday Okpebholo for allegedly spending over N3.5 billion on international trips and training within just three months, without securing any form of foreign direct investment (FDI) for the state.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Chris Osa Nehikhare, Publicity Secretary of the PDP Caretaker Committee in Edo, described the expenditures as reckless and shameful.

Citing the Capital Importation Report released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on August 5, 2025, the party noted that Edo was among 30 Nigerian states that collectively spent N11.75 billion on foreign trips during the first quarter of the year yet failed to attract any FDI.

According to the NBS report, only seven regions, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Kaduna, Kano and Ekiti attracted foreign investment between January and March 2025.

“The FDI that came into the country between January and March went to only seven locations (the Federal Capital Territory, Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Kaduna, Kano and Ekiti),” the report stated.

The Bureau pegged Edo’s share of the expenditure at ₦349,323,686.03 and $227,918.57.

In its strongly worded statement titled “Stop the Jamboree: Edo Government’s Reckless N3.51 Billion Travel Spree Amidst Crumbling Infrastructure is Shameful”, PDP expressed outrage that the Okpebholo-led government prioritised foreign travel over addressing dire developmental needs.

“The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Edo State Chapter, is outraged by the disgraceful revelation that the Senator Monday Okpebholo-led administration squandered an alarming N3.51 billion on travel in just the first half of 2025,” the statement read.

“This waste comes at a time when the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) Capital Importation Report confirms that Edo State failed to attract a single kobo in foreign investment while states like Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Kaduna, Kano, and even Ekiti made the list.”

“The contrast is both embarrassing and telling. Other states are opening their doors to the capital, Edo’s leaders are opening their wallets for endless trips.”

PDP further described the travel expenditures as “an insult” to Edo citizens, who continue to struggle with poor roads, inadequate healthcare, crumbling schools, irregular salary payments, and unreliable power supply.

“This reckless expenditure is an insult to the good people of Edo State who continue to endure poor roads, inadequate healthcare facilities, decaying schools, delays in salary payments and epileptic power supply.”

“It is unacceptable that while other states are working to attract investment, Edo’s leadership is squandering scarce resources on trips that yield no tangible benefits.”

“Governance is not a jamboree. Leadership demands prudence, vision, and a commitment to prioritising the needs of the people over frivolous indulgences.”

“Edo State deserves a government focused on creating jobs, improving infrastructure, and enhancing the quality of life of its citizenscitizens, not one obsessed with globetrotting at public expense.”

The PDP called on the state government to immediately stop the “wasteful” spending, publish details of all international trips, and redirect such funds to urgently needed infrastructure development across Edo.

Suspected Armed Robber Nabbed In Anambra, Stolen Vehicle Recovered

The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 32-year-old suspected armed robber, Charles Chinonso, believed to also be a member of the proscribed separatist group, Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

According to a statement released on Sunday by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the arrest was the result of a well-coordinated, intelligence-driven operation carried out by operatives attached to the Special Anti-Cultism Squad in Enugwu-Ukwu.

“Early today 10th August 2025, in a coordinated intelligence-led operation, Special Anti-Cultism Squad, Enugwu-Ukwu, arrested one Charles Chinonso, 32 years old, a suspected armed robber and member of a separatist group,” Ikenga said.

During the operation, police also recovered a vehicle that had been previously reported stolen in Imo State. The vehicle was located at Umuazu Village, Nise, in Awka South Local Government Area.

“Operatives also recovered a vehicle earlier reported stolen in Imo State. The recovery took place at Umuazu Village, Nise, in Awka South Local Government Area,” Ikenga explained.

The arrest followed a formal complaint from the victim, who had reported that the vehicle was forcefully taken at the World Bank Housing Area in Owerri West Local Government Area, Imo State.

“The arrest followed a complaint by the victim, who reported that the vehicle was snatched at the World Bank Housing Area, Owerri West Local Government Area, Imo State,” the police spokesperson added.

He further disclosed that technological intelligence was instrumental in tracking the stolen vehicle, leading officers to its precise location and enabling the swift arrest of the suspect.

“Acting on credible technological intelligence, Police operatives traced the vehicle to its location and effected the arrest,” Ikenga said.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has since assured the public that the Anambra Command is working closely with its counterpart in Imo State, as the carjacking incident falls under their jurisdiction.

“The Command will liaise with the Imo State Police Command, as the robbery incident occurred within their jurisdiction, to ensure that the suspect and the recovered vehicle are processed in accordance with extant legal procedures,” Ikenga quoted the CP as saying.

Crystal Palace Defeat Liverpool To Win First-Ever Community Shield

Crystal Palace pulled off a memorable upset at Wembley on Sunday, defeating Liverpool 3-2 on penalties after a thrilling 2-2 draw in regulation time, to claim their first-ever FA Community Shield title.

Making their debut in the traditional curtain-raiser for the English football season, Palace twice came from behind against the reigning Premier League champions before holding their nerve in a tense shootout.

Liverpool’s new recruits Hugo Ekitike and Jeremie Frimpong both found the net in a debut to remember.

Ekitike opened the scoring just four minutes into the game, spinning off a pass from Florian Wirtz and finishing smartly.

But Palace refused to back down. After Jean-Philippe Mateta was initially denied by Alisson, Ismaila Sarr earned a penalty when he was brought down by Virgil van Dijk. Mateta converted coolly to make it 1-1.

The Reds restored their lead through Frimpong, whose attempted cross looped into the far corner past Dean Henderson.

Still, Palace had the final say in normal time. With 13 minutes left, Adam Wharton sent a precise ball through to Sarr, who raced in and slotted home calmly, leveling the match at 2-2.

With no extra time played, the match went straight to penalties. Palace keeper Dean Henderson produced two crucial saves, denying Alexis Mac Allister and Harvey Elliott, while Mohamed Salah fired his effort over the bar.

Palace’s young midfielder Justin Devenny emerged as the unlikely hero, smashing in the decisive spot-kick to hand the South London club another historic win, just months after they lifted their first major trophy by beating Manchester City in the FA Cup final.

The match was overshadowed by recent heartbreak for Liverpool, following the tragic death of Diogo Jota and his brother in a car accident. In a touching pre-match tribute, Ian Rush and Steve Parish, Palace’s chairman, laid wreaths on the touchline.

Liverpool’s players wore “Forever 20” badges on their shirts, a nod to Jota’s retired jersey number, and fans paid tribute with banners and a 20th-minute chant.

A moment of silence was held before kickoff but was unfortunately disrupted by sections of the crowd.

Despite heavy summer investment with Liverpool spending £260 million to bring in Ekitike, Wirtz, Frimpong, and Milos Kerkez manager Arne Slot still faces questions, particularly regarding his side’s defensive balance.

Ekitike could have had a second goal but missed a clear chance early in the second half. And while the new-look team showed attacking promise, they looked vulnerable to balls played in behind, a weakness Palace exploited consistently.

Senate Invites Anyaoku-Led Group To Present New Constitution Proposal At Public Hearing

Chief Anyaoku,

The Nigerian Senate has invited the group led by former Commonwealth Secretary-General, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, known as The Patriots, to present their case for a new constitution during the upcoming public hearings on constitutional reforms.

The Patriots, a coalition of respected Nigerian statesmen and leaders, have been advocating for the replacement of the 1999 Constitution, which they argue has failed to adequately address the country’s persistent political, economic, and structural challenges.

During an interaction with journalists in his hometown of Ilawe-Ekiti, Senate spokesperson Senator Yemi Adaramodu responded to the group’s demands by encouraging them, and all interested Nigerians, to actively participate in the constitutional review process:

“We urge our patriotic patriots to avail themselves of the opportunities that are going to be open to everyone. We welcome input from all Nigerians, elders, professionals, political leaders, traditional rulers, youth groups, women’s groups, CSOs, and even Nigerians in the diaspora.”

Adaramodu explained that the National Assembly is committed to ensuring inclusive participation in shaping the country’s legal framework.

He noted that once all inputs are gathered, the Senate and House of Representatives will convene a comprehensive public hearing where various proposals can be debated:

“Once that report is ready, the Senate, in conjunction with the House of Representatives, will hold a comprehensive public hearing. This hearing will allow all stakeholders, those who submitted requests and those opposed to them, to present their arguments. After then, the two chambers will now sit together concurrently to pick which request is genuine.”

Regarding whether the process would result in a brand new constitution or an amendment to the existing one, Adaramodu stressed that the final outcome would reflect the collective interests of Nigerians:

“The final document, whether a completely new constitution or an amended one, will reflect the collective input of Nigerians, not just the opinion of one group. Our goal is to ensure that whatever constitutional changes are made will be in the best interest of Nigeria and its people.”

Senator Adaramodu also revealed that the Senate has received 61 formal requests for state creation, stemming from consultations with constituents across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.

These submissions range from calls for new states to demands for local government autonomy.

“First, the Senate cannot unilaterally create states; such requests must be considered during a constitutional review process. In such cases, Nigerians and other critical stakeholders will express their interests, which often range from local government autonomy to state creation and even the creation of more local governments.”

He added that existing Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) created by states like Lagos and Ekiti would also be reviewed:

“There is also the validation of new Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) created by various state governments, such as Lagos State and my own state in Ekiti. All of these will still be reviewed and examined. We will collate them, after which the Constitutional Review Committee, headed by the Deputy Senate President, Senator Jibrin Barau, in the 10th Senate, will aggregate, assess, and filter them before preparing a report to the Senate.”

Adaramodu addressed concerns that the current Senate may not complete the constitutional review process before the end of its tenure. He reassured Nigerians that constitutional amendments are not tied to a fixed timeline:

“Constitutional review is a timeless process; it is not bound to the tenure of the 10th Senate or House of Representatives. It can start at any time in a legislative year. With full commitment, amendments can be made quickly by the time we resume if Nigerians demand them.”
