Police Rescue Woman From Suspected Ritualist In Abuja, Launch Manhunt

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has rescued a 25-year-old woman, Promise Eze, from an alleged armed robber and ritualist in Abuja, while a manhunt for the fleeing suspect is underway.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, via X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday.

According to the statement, the incident took place at a hotel in the Wuse district of Abuja on January 31, 2025.

Hotel staff alerted the police after noticing suspicious activity in one of the rooms.

Upon arrival, officers found Eze tied to a small chair, her mouth sealed with plaster.

She was unconscious but was promptly freed and taken to Wuse District Hospital, where she regained consciousness.

Investigations revealed that Eze had checked into the hotel on January 30 with a man who initially identified himself as Emmanuel Okoro from Lagos.

However, she later disclosed that she met the suspect online, where he used the alias Michael Prince and claimed to be an oil company employee from Delta State.

The police statement read:

On January 31, 2025, at approximately 11:30 AM, the Command received a distress call from a hotel in Wuse regarding suspicious activity in one of the rooms. Responding swiftly, officers arrived at the scene and discovered a young woman tied to a chair, her mouth covered with plaster, and in distress. She was immediately rescued and rushed to the hospital, where she was revived.”

Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim met the suspect online, where he presented himself as Michael Prince, an oil company worker in Delta State. He initially invited her to Delta, but after she declined, they agreed to meet in Abuja. What was expected to be an innocent meeting quickly turned into a nightmare.”

The suspect allegedly pulled out a dagger, used it to intimidate and restrain Eze, then bound her hands and legs, sealing her mouth with tape before locking her in the bathroom.

He later fled the scene, taking her two mobile phones.

Disturbingly, before leaving, the victim overheard him speaking on the phone with suspected accomplices, informing them that he was regrouping and would return to “finish the job.”

In response, the FCT Police Command has launched an intensive manhunt to apprehend the suspect.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Olatunji Disu, condemned the attack and urged residents, especially young women, to be cautious when meeting individuals they do not personally know.

The FCT Police Command remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of residents. We urge anyone with relevant information about the suspect’s whereabouts to contact the police immediately,” the statement added.

For emergency assistance, residents can reach the FCT Police through:

  • Emergency Line: 08032003913
  • Complaint Response Unit: 08107314192

The police urged the public to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities to law enforcement authorities.

APC Urges Nigerians To Reject PDP In 2027

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on Nigerians to reject the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2027 elections, describing the opposition party as a collapsing political platform plagued by internal crises.

Speaking in an interview with journalists on Sunday, APC’s National Publicity Director, Bala Ibrahim, argued that Nigeria was still suffering from the negative impact of PDP’s 16-year rule.

He claimed that the party’s persistent leadership conflicts showed its inability to manage itself, let alone govern the country.

The PDP is gradually going into extinction. That party is gone. Are these the clowns people expect to rule Nigeria again? Nigerians are still experiencing the consequences of their 16-year misrule. Honestly, we in the APC are just watching and enjoying the entertainment,” Ibrahim said.

He further alleged that PDP’s inability to resolve its internal crisis was a sign that divine intervention had prevented it from returning to power.

What is happening in the PDP today is proof that God rescued Nigerians by ensuring they were removed from office. If you dig deeper, you will uncover even more problems within the party. They should come and learn politics from our APC Progressive Institute, where we teach governance without bitterness,” he added.

Addressing claims that APC was fueling the PDP’s internal conflicts, Ibrahim dismissed the allegations, insisting that APC had no hand in the opposition party’s troubles.

How can the APC be responsible for what is happening at Wadata Plaza (PDP’s national headquarters)? We are not even nearby, so how does their problem concern us? What does APC have to do with their leadership battles, their multiple chairmen, or their divided secretariat?” he asked.

He challenged critics to identify any APC members involved in the PDP’s crisis, stating, “Who among those causing confusion in the PDP is a card-carrying member of our party? None. It is entirely their own doing.”

Meanwhile, key PDP leaders from the North East met in Bauchi last Thursday to discuss reconciliation efforts and strategies ahead of the 2027 elections.

However, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar was notably absent from the meeting.

The gathering was attended by the three PDP governors from the region; Bala Mohammed of Bauchi, Dr. Agbu Kefas of Taraba, and Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa.

Also present were members of the PDP Reconciliation Committee, led by former National Secretary Olagunsoye Oyinlola, as well as senators, House of Representatives members, and state assembly members from the zone.

Only Constitutional Amendment Can Validate IGP Egbetokun’s Tenure Extension – Lawyer

A legal expert and secretary of the Association of Legislative Drafting and Advocacy Practitioners (ALDRAP), Tonye Jaja, has stated that only an amendment to the 1999 Constitution can legally validate the appointment and tenure extension of Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.

In a letter addressed to the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, Jaja criticized the AGF’s stance, arguing that Egbetokun’s continued stay in office is unconstitutional without a constitutional amendment.

The AGF got it wrong when he declared the tenure elongation lawful,” Jaja wrote in the letter.

The controversy stems from the AGF’s recent declaration that Egbetokun, who was appointed on October 31, 2023, would serve a full four-year tenure, even though he is set to reach the retirement age of 60 on September 4, 2024.

This followed an amendment to the Police Act, which allows an Inspector General of Police to complete the four-year term, regardless of age.

The AGF argued that this amendment means Egbetokun’s tenure will now run until October 31, 2027.

However, Jaja has urged the AGF to reconsider, insisting that only a constitutional alteration—not an amendment to the Police Act—can lawfully extend the IGP’s tenure.

Contrary to the position of the AGF, I hold the view that only an alteration of Sections 214, 215, and 216 of the 1999 Constitution can legally extend the tenure of the Inspector-General of Police,” he stated.

Jaja’s argument is based on the fact that the office of the Inspector-General of Police is a direct creation of the 1999 Constitution.

He cited the Fifth Alteration Act No. 37 of June 8, 2023, which adjusted the retirement age and pension for judicial officers through a constitutional amendment.

The judiciary’s retirement age was changed through an alteration of the 1999 Constitution because those offices were created by it. Likewise, any change to the tenure of the IGP must follow the same constitutional process,” he explained.

Jaja warned that if the AGF fails to address the issue properly, ALDRAP would take legal action at the National Industrial Court of Nigeria to seek judicial clarification.

SERAP Gives Tinubu Seven-Day Ultimatum To Investigate Missing N26 Billion In Oil Sector

The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has called on President Bola Tinubu to launch an immediate investigation into the alleged mismanagement of N26 billion in the oil sector.

The organization issued a seven-day ultimatum for the government to take action, warning that failure to do so would result in legal proceedings to compel compliance.

In a statement dated February 1, 2025, and signed by its Deputy Director, Kolawole Oluwadare, SERAP urged Tinubu to direct Attorney General Lateef Fagbemi (SAN) and anti-corruption agencies to probe the alleged financial irregularities involving the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) and the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources.

The call for an investigation follows findings from the 2021 annual audited report released by the Office of the Auditor-General of the Federation on November 13, 2024.

The report revealed that funds were allegedly mismanaged, diverted, or stolen within the oil sector.

SERAP described the allegations as a grave violation of public trust, Nigeria’s Constitution, and international anti-corruption obligations.

It called for the immediate prosecution of those responsible and the recovery of all missing public funds for national development.

According to the audit report, some of the questionable expenditures include:

  • Over N25 billion paid for contracts without supporting documents.
  • N326 million unaccounted for in two bank deposits.
  • N107 million spent on a library automation system without approval from the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).
  • N46 million paid to three companies without proof of service delivery.
  • N60 million in stamp duty fees from capital expenditure contracts that were not remitted.
  • N64 million spent on store items that were never supplied.
  • N41 million paid for services or goods that were not received.
  • N137 million used for recurrent expenditures without approval from the National Assembly.
  • N232 million paid to seven companies for “stakeholders’ engagement in the Niger Delta” with no details on the nature, location, or justification of the engagement.

The report raised concerns that these funds might have been diverted and recommended full recovery and remittance to the national treasury.

SERAP emphasized that addressing corruption in the oil sector is crucial for Nigeria’s economic stability.

It urged the government to recover the stolen funds and redirect them towards reducing the budget deficit and easing the country’s debt burden.

Despite Nigeria’s vast oil wealth, citizens continue to suffer due to widespread corruption and the lack of accountability among those entrusted with public resources,” SERAP stated.

The organization also cited constitutional and international obligations, such as the UN Convention against Corruption and the African Union Convention on Preventing and Combating Corruption, as reasons why the government must act swiftly.

Under Section 16(1) of the Nigerian Constitution, your government has a responsibility to ensure the welfare and economic security of all citizens based on principles of justice and equality,” the letter added.

SERAP reaffirmed its readiness to pursue legal action if the government fails to act within the stipulated timeframe, insisting that the nation’s resources must be used for the benefit of all Nigerians, both present and future generations.

30 Die In Ondo As Two Buses Collide, Burst Into Flames

A tragic accident on the Benin-Ore-Ijebu Ode Expressway in Ondo State has claimed the lives of 30 people after two commercial buses collided and caught fire.

The incident occurred on Saturday evening at Onipetesi, a community in Odigbo Local Government Area.

According to the Ondo Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), 28 victims were burnt beyond recognition, while two initially survived but later succumbed to their injuries while being transported to the hospital.

Confirming the crash, Ondo FRSC Sector Commander, Samuel Ibitoye, attributed the accident to reckless driving.

Preliminary investigations indicate that one of the buses was traveling against traffic when the collision occurred. Unfortunately, 30 people lost their lives, with most of them trapped in the burning vehicles,” Ibitoye stated.

An eyewitness described the scene as horrifying, saying the fire spread rapidly, leaving passengers little chance of survival.

We heard a loud crash and rushed to the scene. Both vehicles were engulfed in flames, and we could hear people screaming for help. It was a terrible sight,” he recounted.

Efforts to rescue survivors proved futile as the intensity of the fire made access difficult.

Emergency responders from the FRSC arrived promptly, evacuating the two initially rescued victims, who later died from severe burns.

In response to the tragedy, the FRSC has reiterated the need for strict adherence to traffic regulations, particularly against dangerous practices such as driving against traffic.

This accident was avoidable. Motorists must obey road signs and prioritize safety. We will continue to educate road users, but enforcement will also be intensified,” Ibitoye warned.

Meanwhile, authorities are making arrangements for the proper handling of the remains of the victims, as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Proscription: IPOB Rejects Appeal Court Ruling, Heads To Supreme Court

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has strongly opposed the recent Court of Appeal verdict that upheld its proscription, labeling the ruling as a “rape of justice” and a direct violation of Nigeria’s constitution.

In a statement released by its Media and Publicity Secretary, Comrade Emma Powerful, IPOB criticized the late Justice Abdul Kafarati’s initial decision that led to the proscription, calling it illegal and unconstitutional.

The group argued that ex-parte court orders are temporary measures that should not last beyond 14 days, yet the proscription order against IPOB has remained in effect for nearly eight years.

IPOB pointed out several legal flaws in the proscription process.

Ex-Parte Orders Misused: The group claimed that it is “kindergarten law” that ex-parte court orders in civil procedures cannot impose criminal liability on any individual or organization, yet this was done against them.

No State of Emergency Declared: IPOB emphasized that no state of emergency was declared in the South-East or South-South, nor was any public disorder linked to IPOB to justify its proscription.

Invalid Authorization: According to IPOB, Nigerian law mandates that the President must sign any document authorizing such a proscription.

However, they noted that neither former President Muhammadu Buhari nor then-Vice President Yemi Osinbajo signed the order. Instead, it was reportedly signed by the late Abba Kyari, Buhari’s Chief of Staff, who, they argued, had no legal authority to do so.

IPOB further alleged that certain judges in Abuja had been influenced by “haters of IPOB” and had undermined the rule of law to deliver politically motivated judgments.

They also condemned what they called a “dubious reliance” on past rulings, such as Asari Dokubo’s bail denial, to justify violations of individual rights and the wrongful branding of IPOB as a terrorist organization.

The group insisted that IPOB has always conducted its activities lawfully and peacefully, stating that no act of terrorism had been attributed to them at the time of proscription.

Instead, they accused the Nigerian military of unjustified violence against their members during “Operation Python Dance.”

Vowing to challenge the Court of Appeal’s ruling, IPOB declared its intent to take legal action against anyone who refers to the group as a proscribed organization without evidence of terrorist activities.

“We will litigate to the fullest extent of the law against any person or persons that dare refer to IPOB as a proscribed or outlawed organization without proof of any attributable commission of a terrorist act,” the statement read.

FG To Receive 5,144 Nigerian Deportees As Trump’s Crackdown Intensifies

The Federal Government has expressed its readiness to receive thousands of Nigerians facing deportation from the United States (US) as part of President Donald Trump’s sweeping immigration crackdown.

According to reports, at least 5,144 Nigerians are expected to be affected in the initial phase of the deportation exercise.

These individuals include those in the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) system, with final orders of removal, as well as others already in ICE detention.

Data from ICE indicates that 772 out of 1,454 Nigerians currently in custody were detained for criminal convictions or pending criminal charges, while the rest were arrested for immigration violations such as visa overstays.

The report also shows that 417 Nigerians were deported as of November 2024, and 884 were removed between 2019 and 2024.

The deportations come as the Trump administration enforces stricter immigration policies, targeting undocumented immigrants across the US.

However, concerns have emerged over the treatment of deportees from various countries, with allegations of degrading conditions during repatriation.

At least three countries, Mexico, Colombia, and Brazil have raised objections to the manner in which their citizens were deported from the US.

Colombian authorities condemned the use of military planes and the practice of handcuffing deportees, arguing that such measures criminalize individuals unnecessarily.

Colombian President Gustavo Petro strongly criticized the process, stating, “We are the opposite of the Nazis.”

He further offered to facilitate the dignified return of Colombian nationals via civilian planes, including his presidential aircraft.

Initially, Colombia refused to accept deportation flights on military aircraft, prompting threats from Trump, who warned of possible tariffs and sanctions.

However, following negotiations, Colombia agreed to take back its deported citizens, avoiding US penalties.

Meanwhile, Mexico also denied a request to allow a US military aircraft carrying migrants to land on its soil, further complicating deportation logistics.

Brazil’s foreign ministry also denounced the treatment of its deported nationals after reports emerged that migrants were handcuffed on a commercial deportation flight.

Upon arrival, Brazilian officials intervened, ordering the removal of restraints and arranging a Brazilian Air Force (FAB) flight to transport the deportees to their final destination.

In response to the deportation plans, the Nigerian government has assured that it is prepared to handle the return of its citizens.

The Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri, reaffirmed that an inter-agency committee has been set up to manage the situation.

“The Federal Government has set up an inter-agency committee, comprising the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, NiDCOM, the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, and the Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA), should there be mass deportation of Nigerians from the US,” she stated.

Meanwhile, former Nigerian Ambassador to the US, Ambassador Joe Keshi, argued that the deportations would have minimal economic impact on Nigeria but could negatively affect families who rely on remittances from relatives abroad.

“There’s no way it can affect our economy. If the Federal Government improves the economy, people will stay; it’s just the family they have been sending money to that would suffer because they won’t have money as they used to have before. Unless they find another means of survival,” Keshi noted.

Crack In PDP Widens As Anyanwu Petitions Security Agencies, Accuses Governors Of Instigating Chaos

The National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Samuel Anyanwu, has submitted a petition to security agencies, warning of potential threats to peace and security within the party.

The petition, dated February 1st, 2025, was addressed to the Department of State Security (DSS), the National Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the Supreme Court and Court of Appeal.

In the letter, Anyanwu accused the party’s governors of creating unrest by recognizing Sunday Udo-Okoye as the party’s National Secretary.

The petition reads in part, “There is an urgent need for the police to take note of paragraph 3 of the communique issued by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors Forum after their meeting, which took place in Asaba, Delta State, on Friday, January 31, 2025.

“In the quoted paragraph 3 of the Communique, the Forum advised the NWC to set up a machinery for the implementation of the Enugu Court of Appeal judgement, which favoured the nomination of SKD Ude Okoye as the National Secretary of the Party.

“The police should be aware that an appeal has been filed in the Supreme Court against the quoted judgement. Furthermore, the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja granted an order on January 13, 2025, clearly directing both parties to maintain status quo ante bellum pending the determination of the substantive application.

“The order accordingly was duly served on all parties concerned, including the National Working Committee of PDP and INEC.

“It is a settled matter in law that when a judgement is appealed against to a superior court; all parties should maintain status quo ante bellum till the matter is finally determined.

“The governors cannot claim ignorance of this position of law before issuing their statement, which runs in conflict with the court decision.

“The police is aware that on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, the same Ude Okoye, on the ill advice of his cohorts, invaded the PDP National Secretariat, the venue of the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT) meeting with hired thugs and bandits to unleash attacks intended to disrupt the meeting for which he is not a member.

“That action was completely unlawful and in total disregard of the judiciary and the rule of law.

“It is saddening that the governors, in their expected wisdom, have allowed themselves to be deceived by the sponsors of Ude Okoye, who are already facing criminal investigations by the police against the forged PDP guidelines, which they used to mislead the courts in securing the ill-fated judgements.

“Police is therefore being alerted to the grave dangers that will ensue in the attempt of the NWC to implement the quoted advice of the PDP Governors Forum enshrined in paragraph 3 of their communique.

“It will be an invitation to chaos and an affront to the judiciary and the rule of law, especially when the matter is pending before the superior courts for determination.

“I am by this letter calling on you to take necessary steps to forestall the crises being instigated by the PDP Governors and the sponsors of Ude Okoye.

“The National Working Committee of PDP should be advised to refrain from any action that will be contrary to the position of the court on this matter.

“It is my right as a lawful citizen to seek justice against a judgement that was fraudulently secured against me.

“In the interest of peace and safety of lives and property of innocent Nigerians, all parties to this case should be cautioned to conduct themselves in line with the rule of law and the decision of the Court of Appeal to maintain status quo ante bellum pending the hearing and determination of the motion.

“Anything contrary to this will be vehemently resisted. I still remain the validly elected National Secretary of PDP until the court rules otherwise.

“Thanking you in anticipation of your kind intervention, and please, accept the assurances of my esteemed regards.”

Udeh-Okoye Remains Our National Secretary – PDP Governors Insist

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors Forum has thrown its weight behind Sunday Udeh-Okoye as the party’s National Secretary, despite the ongoing legal battle over the position.

The decision was reached during the governors’ first monthly meeting of 2025, held on Friday in Asaba, Delta State.

The contest over who rightfully holds the position of PDP National Secretary has been a source of tension within the party, with Samuel Anyanwu and former National Youth Leader Sunday Udeh-Okoye both laying claim to the role.

The matter remains unresolved in the courts, including Nigeria’s Supreme Court.

The Court of Appeal in Enugu had ruled in December 2024 that Udeh-Okoye should be recognized as the party’s National Secretary, upholding an earlier High Court judgment.

However, Anyanwu has continued to challenge this ruling.

In a communique issued at the end of their meeting, the PDP governors reaffirmed their commitment to the Court of Appeal’s ruling, declaring Udeh-Okoye as the legitimate National Secretary of the party.

In the quoted paragraph 3 of the Communique, the Forum advised the NWC to set up a machinery for the implementation of the Enugu Court of Appeal judgement, which favoured the nomination of SKD Ude Okoye as the National Secretary of the Party.”

They urged the PDP’s National Working Committee (NWC) to execute the judgment accordingly. Additionally, the governors recommended rescheduling the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) meeting to March 13, 2025, instead of its originally planned February date.

Present at the meeting were Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, who also serves as the Forum’s Chairperson, alongside Governors Siminalayi Fubara (Rivers), Peter Mbah (Enugu), Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta), and Umo Eno (Akwa Ibom). Other attendees included Governors Douye Diri (Bayelsa), Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri (Adamawa), Ademola Adeleke (Osun), Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau), Agbu Kefas (Taraba), Dauda Lawal (Zamfara), and Oyo State’s Deputy Governor, Bayo Lawal.

During the meeting, the PDP Governors Forum also addressed Nigeria’s economic difficulties, urging President Bola Tinubu’s administration to revise its policies to alleviate widespread hardship.

“The Forum calls on the federal government to either revisit or rejig its macroeconomic policies to ameliorate and stop the hardship and pains that they have inflicted on Nigerians as no meaningful or impactful achievements in the states will be achieved until the harsh policies are addressed,” Governor Bala Mohammed stated.

He reassured Nigerians that the PDP would work towards fixing the economy once back in power.

Additionally, the governors raised concerns about the growing influence of non-state actors, calling on the federal government to strengthen Nigeria’s security framework.

The dispute over the position of PDP National Secretary began after Samuel Anyanwu stepped aside to contest the Imo State governorship election on November 11, 2023.

Despite losing to incumbent Governor Hope Uzodinma of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Anyanwu did not submit a formal resignation from his position as PDP National Secretary.

Meanwhile, in October 2023, PDP leaders in the South-East nominated Udeh-Okoye to replace Anyanwu.

A High Court in Enugu later ruled in favor of Udeh-Okoye, instructing the PDP to recognize him as National Secretary.

However, the PDP’s National Working Committee (NWC) challenged the ruling, arguing that the decision was obtained through fraudulent means and lacked clarity on Udeh-Okoye’s exact position.

In January 2024, a Federal High Court in Abuja ruled in Anyanwu’s favor, affirming him as the rightful PDP National Secretary.

The court also restrained the party’s leadership from appointing a replacement until Anyanwu’s four-year tenure ended in December 2025.

In December 2024, the Court of Appeal in Enugu upheld the High Court ruling that Udeh-Okoye should be recognized as National Secretary.

The appellate court ruled that Anyanwu’s claim to the position was invalid, as his gubernatorial candidacy had effectively vacated the role.

“The judge, Inyang Ekwo, also restrained the national leadership of the PDP from appointing any person as its acting national secretary until the expiration of Mr Anyanwu’s four-year tenure on 9 December 2025, as enshrined in the party’s constitution.”

Despite the ruling, Anyanwu refused to step down and appealed the case to the Supreme Court.

Meanwhile, Udeh-Okoye assumed office on December 30, 2024, citing the appellate court’s decision.

However, in January 2025, the Court of Appeal in Abuja intervened, ordering both parties to maintain the status quo until the Supreme Court issues a final ruling.

Both claimants have interpreted the status quo directive differently:

  • Udeh-Okoye argues that the ruling means he should continue in office as National Secretary since the Court of Appeal had already ruled in his favor.
  • Anyanwu contends that the order effectively puts a hold on the implementation of the Court of Appeal’s judgment, thereby allowing him to retain his position until the Supreme Court delivers its verdict.

The dispute has also led to a division within the PDP leadership.

National Publicity Secretary Debo Ologunagba has publicly recognized Udeh-Okoye as the legitimate National Secretary, citing the Court of Appeal ruling.

However, his deputy, Ibrahim Abdullahi, has countered this, insisting that Anyanwu remains the rightful officeholder based on the Federal High Court ruling in Abuja.

Last week, PDP leaders from the South-East reaffirmed their support for Udeh-Okoye, adding further weight to his claim to the position.

As the legal battle continues, the Supreme Court’s final verdict will be crucial in determining the party’s leadership structure moving forward.

FCT Police Recover SUV Stolen At Gunpoint Along Kubwa Expressway

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has recovered a Lexus GS460, 2016 model, which was stolen at gunpoint along the Kubwa Expressway on January 30, 2025.

Police spokesperson SP Josephine Adeh confirmed the recovery, attributing it to swift response efforts and the use of digital tracking technology.

She encouraged vehicle owners to install tracking devices to aid law enforcement in similar cases.

According to Adeh, the police received a distress call and immediately launched a citywide alert, deploying patrol and surveillance teams.

Their swift action led to a high-speed chase, forcing the suspects to abandon the stolen SUV in a remote area in Suleja, Niger State, before fleeing.

“The distress call prompted an immediate response, and our operatives acted swiftly. With the help of tracking technology, we located the vehicle and engaged the suspects in a hot pursuit. Unable to escape the intense pressure, they abandoned the car and disappeared into the area,” she said.

The recovered vehicle is now in police custody, and efforts are ongoing to track down the perpetrators.

The FCT Police Command urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies.
