The Nigera Professional Footbal League round 16 between the flying antelopes otherwise known as Enugu Rangers International Football Club and Shooting Stars which took place today at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu has ended.

Leading up to this fixture, both teams have garnered equal points this season, totaling 19, with goal difference being the differentiating factor.

In their recent matches, Enugu Rangers secured only one victory, which was against Sporting Lagos in a 2-0 home win.

However, they faced challenges with three consecutive defeats against Abia Warriors, Plateau United, and Bayelsa United.

Heading into this match, Shooting Stars has been unable to secure a win in their recent matches, and they will be eager for a positive outcome.

In their last five games, Shooting Stars faced defeats against Lobi Stars, Sunshine Stars, and Abia Warriors. However, the visitors managed to earn two points in fixtures against Heartland and Katsina United, resulting in a 0-0 and 1-1 draw, respectively.

Daily Gazette correspondent reports that the Flying Antelopes scored a goal 35 minutes into play before the second goal.


In an interview with Daily Gazette, Felix Okorie commended governor Peter Mbah of Enugu state for ensuring the return of Enugu Rangers Football Club to the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium after two years.

He expressed joy seeing the ‘darling team’ return to the stadium, nicknamed “the cathedral.’’

Daily Gazette recall that Governor Mbah had, on assumption of office, assured fans that the Flying Antelopes would return to the stadium before the end of 2023.
