U.S President, Donald Trump has announced the end of his relationship with tech billionaire Elon Musk, warning of “serious consequences” should Musk support Democratic candidates opposing the administration’s major tax and spending bill.

In a phone interview with NBC News, Trump made it clear the fallout is final.

When asked if he believed their relationship was over, he responded, “I would assume so, yeah.”

He added, “I have no intention of speaking to him.”

While Trump declined to detail what the “serious consequences” might be, he noted that he hadn’t considered pulling government contracts from Musk’s ventures, such as SpaceX or Starlink.

Their feud intensified this week after Musk publicly slammed Trump’s proposed legislation as a “disgusting abomination.”

The measure narrowly passed the House and is now under review in the Senate.

Analysts estimate it could add $2.4 trillion to the national debt over a decade.

Musk has since deleted some critical posts about Trump, including one where he agreed with a user calling for Trump’s impeachment and replacement by Vice President JD Vance.

On his podcast, Senator Vance called Musk’s comments “a huge mistake” and said, “I hope that eventually Elon kind of comes back into the fold… But I hope it is.”

Trump, however, remains confident in his legislative efforts: “People that were going to vote for it are now enthusiastically going to vote for it, and we expect it to pass,” he said.

Musk, who heavily funded Trump’s 2024 campaign with nearly $300 million, had previously been appointed to lead efforts to cut federal spending.

Despite Trump’s praise just a week earlier, the relationship now appears irreparably broken.
