Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has announced that he will no longer be performing at the highly anticipated concert scheduled for July 3 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.

In a statement shared via his Instagram story on Saturday, the award-winning singer pointed to unresolved problems with the event’s organisers, The Necto Future Group, promoters of @iconicpresents.

“Over the past few weeks, I have extended my full support and professionalism to The Necto Future Group, promoters of @iconicpresents, with the sincere intention of delivering a performance that meets the high standards my fans deserve,” Davido wrote.

Although he acknowledged strong ticket sales and overwhelming fan support, the artist said serious planning issues forced him to reconsider his participation.

“Despite strong fan support and impressive ticket sales, there have been major misalignments regarding the event’s execution, particularly concerning key elements required to uphold the integrity and quality of my performance,” he said.

Describing the decision to withdraw as a difficult one, Davido emphasized it was essential to maintain the standard his brand is known for and the quality his fans expect.

“This decision is not a reflection of turnout or support; it is a matter of principle and respect for my craft, my fans, and the culture I represent,” he added.

He stressed that the concert would still take place on the scheduled date—just without him.

“Unfortunately, these issues remain unresolved. As a result, I regret to inform you that I will no longer be performing at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on July 3,” Davido stated. “Please note, the show still holds, but without Davido.”

Davido also reassured fans that the rest of his international summer tour remains unaffected by the London cancellation.

“London, I’ll see you guys soon, I promise! The rest of the shows this summer are still happening. 5ive is still alive! See you guys in Germany, Portugal, Belgium, Canada and the US,” he said. “Africa must be respected.”
