The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, has expressed deep sympathy to the family of the late business mogul, Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata, while strongly condemning the killing of 13 citizens from Ebonyi State in Anambra State.
In a statement signed by Ezechi Chukwu, the group’s National Publicity Secretary, Ohanaeze paid glowing tribute to the late Dantata, describing him as “an eminent elder statesman, successful businessman, captain of industry, renowned philanthropist and outstanding mentor who tutored an array of contemporary wealth creators in Nigeria.”
The President General of Ohanaeze, Senator Azuta Mbata, acknowledged the late industrialist’s significant legacy in shaping Nigeria’s economic and social development.
“Alhaji Dantata has paid his dues in both nation building and human capacity development, with his impactful robust endeavours cutting across over half a century,” the statement reads.
Senator Mbata urged Nigerian youth to emulate Dantata’s life of industry, discipline, and resilience, noting that his life and achievements would continue to serve as a model for generations to come.
Ohanaeze extended condolences not only to the Dantata family but also to the Emir of Kano, His Highness Dr. Muhammadu Sanusi II, the Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, and the entire people of the state.
In a separate statement, the group condemned in strong terms the recent murder of 13 Ebonyi indigenes in Ogboji, Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State. It labeled the act as both heinous and spiritually offensive.
“Ohanaeze Ndigbo sees this unprovoked killing as callous, barbaric, ungodly, and an abomination which amounts to the desecration of our land,” the statement reads.
Calling for swift justice, Ohanaeze urged relevant state authorities and security agencies to apprehend those behind the attack and ensure they are prosecuted.
The group also extended its sympathies to the bereaved families, the Governor of Ebonyi State, Rt. Hon. Francis Nwifuru, and the people of the state.
Reaffirming its commitment to unity, Ohanaeze pledged to continue advocating for peace and justice not only in the Southeast but across Nigeria.
