A video making the rounds on social media has captured a dramatic confrontation between a Catholic priest and members of the Catholic Women Organisation (CWO) during their annual August meeting.

The incident reportedly occurred at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Idedu, located in Etiti Amokwe, Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State.

In the footage obtained by DAILY GAZETTE, the priest is seen in a heated physical exchange with several women, as objects are thrown amid the chaos.

Witnesses described the scene as a “free-for-all,” with parishioners struggling to separate the clashing parties.

According to a Facebook post by Chijinkem Ugwuanyi, tensions erupted after the women allegedly refused the priest’s directive to hold their meeting at a different venue, specifically in Ibuzor.

The priest, reportedly angered by the defiance, attempted to disrupt the gathering, leading to the confrontation.

The priest fought and disrupted the women’s meeting simply because they refused to relocate the venue to Ibuzor,” Ugwuanyi wrote.

As the time of this report, the full circumstances surrounding the altercation remain unclear and no official statement has been released by the Catholic Diocese of Enugu or the parish involved.
