A man, Eze Amadi, has been arrested by police for allegedly murdering his 28-year-old neighbor, Ifeanyi Otu and hiding his body inside a water drum in Kajola, Odigbo local government area of Ondo State.
Reports reveal that the victim was brutally tortured before being concealed in the water tank, likely in an attempt to dispose of the body under cover of darkness.
However, Amadi’s plan was thwarted when local residents apprehended him as he was trying to remove the body, which had been wrapped in foam, using a motorcycle.
Sources indicated that both the victim’s father, Michael Otu, and the suspect, Eze Amadi, lived in the same neighborhood, but the reason for the violent altercation between the two men remains unclear.
“I was at home when I received the shocking news that my son’s body had been found in a water drum,” said the grieving father.
“When I arrived at the scene, I saw my son’s lifeless body. I was told that the suspect was caught while trying to get rid of the body. This tragedy has left me devastated, and I demand justice for my son.”
Ondo State Police spokesman, Ayanlade, confirmed the arrest and said investigations are underway to fully understand the circumstances of the crime.
“The suspect is in our custody, and we are working diligently to uncover the full details of what happened. After the investigation is completed, he will be charged in court,” Ayanlade stated.
He also urged the community to remain calm and assured them that the law would take its course.
