A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State, Prince Paul Ikonne, has expressed strong confidence that IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu will regain his liberty, regardless of attempts by opposition figures to exploit his detention for political gain.

Speaking to a crowd of Ukwa‑Ngwa youths on Friday, Ikonne accused some political actors of using Kanu’s plight to score cheap points, rather than focusing on governance and accountability.

“Let them stop their antics, Kanu’s release will come without their stunts,” he declared.

Ikonne also lashed out at the Abia State Government over alleged phantom projects, questioning the existence and execution of the ₦54 billion “Smart School” and ₦6 billion Recreational Centre under Governor Alex Otti’s administration.

“If those projects are real, why were they not inaugurated when the governor paraded rehabilitated roads? Why do all his official reports vanish into social media without a footprint on the ground?” he challenged.

He added that despite the state receiving over ₦30 billion monthly from federal allocations and internally generated revenue, public works remain untraceable, accusing the government of re‑painting old structures and packaging them as new achievements.

Ikonne appealed to Abia youths to stay alert, reject propaganda, and demand tangible performance from their leaders, emphasizing:

“No amount of spin can substitute actual results.”

He commended President Tinubu for sustaining financial support to states and pushing macroeconomic policies, but lamented that the Abia State Government failed to translate those supports into real development for its people.
