Gunmen attacked a police station in Zonkwa town, located in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State, and killed at least two officers on Friday evening, Daily Trust reports.
Eyewitnesses say the assailants brazenly stormed the station, situated a few meters from Kamyim Hotel, Kurmin-Bi Zonkwa, and began firing indiscriminately.
“They believed suspects arrested in Kachia were being held at Zonkwa,” one resident told DAILY GAZETTE, requesting anonymity.
“But even though the suspects weren’t there, the damage was done.”
A security source confirmed the attack to our correspondent, though declined to share details.
In a video obtained by DAILY GAZETTE, two uniformed police officers lay motionless on the station floor as a shocked crowd gathered nearby.
The scene underscored the growing insecurity in the region.
By evening, authorities said order had largely returned to the area.
The Kaduna State Police Command had not released an official statement by the time of publication.
