The Nigerian Army has approved the promotion of 105 senior officers to the ranks of Major General and Brigadier General as part of efforts to strengthen leadership and support ongoing military operations nationwide.

The Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Lt.-Col. Appolonia Anele, announced the promotions in a statement on Friday in Abuja.

According to Anele, 28 Brigadier Generals were elevated to Major General, while 77 Colonels were promoted to Brigadier General.

Officers promoted to Major General include Brig.-Gen. Ojogbane Adegbe of the Defence Intelligence Agency; Brig.-Gen. Samaila Uba, Director of Defence Information; Brig.-Gen. R.E. Hedima, Acting Chief of Military Intelligence (Army); Brig.-Gen. R.T. Utsaha, Deputy Director of Defence Operations; and Brig.-Gen. A.M. Umar, Commandant of the Warrant Officers Academy, among others. Anele also noted that Brig.-Gen. Z.A. Saidu received a posthumous promotion.

Promoted Brigadier Generals include Colonels Y. Ibrahim, N.N. Gambo, A. Saidu, A. Ali, I. Waziri, M.M. Sani, A.A. Alkali, A.O. Ndah, I.B. Sheriff, and K.R. Apata, alongside several others serving across different formations and units nationwide.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, congratulated the officers on their promotion and urged them to demonstrate enhanced professionalism, leadership, and dedication to duty.

He called on them to provide bold, innovative, and decisive responses to Nigeria’s evolving security challenges while upholding loyalty to the Constitution and defending the country’s territorial integrity.
