The Anambra State Police Command has confirmed the recovery of two decomposing bodies believed to be those of Cameroonian women kidnapped in Anambra West Local Government Area.

The discovery comes amid ongoing efforts to locate three Cameroonian women who were reported missing and feared abducted.

Investigations earlier led to the arrest of two suspects — Nonso Augustine Akpeh (37) and Kingsley Akpeh (44), while a third suspect remains at large.

Police spokesperson Tochukwu Ikenga said the bodies were recovered on the evening of November 28, 2025, during a coordinated search operation involving officers from the Rapid Response Squad in Awkuzu, professional river divers, and local volunteers.

The search was conducted along the Omambala River.

According to the PPRO, the victims’ family members identified the corpses as those of Mrs. Bognou Alice and her niece, Miss Sandra.

The remains have been taken to a mortuary for autopsy and further investigation.

State Commissioner of Police Ikioye Orutugu extended his condolences to the family and directed officers to intensify efforts to locate the third missing woman.

He also issued an order for heightened operations aimed at tracking down the third suspect, Uchenna Nicholas Mmadu, who is still on the run.

In a separate development, the Delta State Police Command has arrested a suspected serial killer and prison escapee, Michael Ezenwai, in Agbor.

He was apprehended on October 24, 2025, while attempting to sell a phone later confirmed to belong to a woman found dead in her apartment.

During interrogation, Ezenwai admitted to killing her during a robbery on October 23, 2025.

He has also been linked to several past violent crimes, including a 2020 rape and murder case involving a university student.

Delta Police spokesperson SP Bright Edafe said the arrest followed a swift response to a complaint lodged at the Agbor Division. Further investigations are ongoing.
