Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, has approved a ₦150,000 Christmas bonus for all civil servants in the state as a gesture of goodwill for the 2025 festive season.
The announcement was made during a church service at the Government House Chapel in Abakaliki on Sunday, as confirmed by his Chief Press Secretary, Monday Uzor.
Governor Nwifuru highlighted that the bonus underscores his administration’s ongoing commitment to improving the welfare of the state’s civil servants, even amidst the challenges of reduced state revenue in recent months.
“The ₦150,000 Christmas bonus is a symbol of our dedication to our hardworking civil servants,” Nwifuru said.
“We are doing this not because of abundant resources, but because we believe in leaving a positive legacy for our people.”
In addition to the bonus announcement, the governor addressed concerns over the Vincent Agwu Nwankwo Flyover, an ambitious infrastructural project in the state.
Despite rumors circulating on social media regarding construction delays, Governor Nwifuru reassured the public, stating that the project is progressing as planned.
“You cannot find any other state in Nigeria currently undertaking a project of this magnitude,” he said, emphasizing that the flyover will significantly transform the state’s infrastructure and visual appeal once completed.
The governor also touched on the state’s recent ₦20,000 increase in the minimum wage for civil servants, which took effect in August.
The increase raised the minimum salary to ₦90,000, further demonstrating the administration’s focus on enhancing the welfare of workers in the state.
Governor Nwifuru’s efforts align with his broader vision for Ebonyi as a model of good governance and modern infrastructure, aiming to position the state on the global stage as a symbol of progress and development.
