Ahead of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s visit to Borno State on December 20, 2025, the Borno State Police Command has put in place extensive security measures, deploying tactical teams, surveillance units, and personnel from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit.
In a statement on Saturday, the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Daso, said the arrangements were designed to ensure the safety of both the President and residents during the visit.
“The Borno State Police Command has deployed adequate security arrangements ahead of the visit of the President to Borno State scheduled for today, 20th December 2025,” the statement read.
ASP Daso explained that the Commissioner of Police, Naziru Abdulmajid, had crafted a robust security plan, incorporating conventional police personnel, tactical squads, surveillance teams, crowd control units, and EOD operatives to guarantee a safe and hitch-free visit.
To facilitate the smooth movement of the President’s convoy and other VIPs, temporary vehicular restrictions and diversions will be enforced on select roads in Maiduguri.
The statement specifically noted that routes, including the parallel road from Airport Road to Shehu Road, may experience temporary closures or rerouting.
Reassuring residents, the police emphasized their commitment to protecting lives and property throughout the duration of the presidential visit.
“The Command reassures residents of its commitment to the protection of lives and property before, during, and after the presidential visit, and calls for the continued cooperation, vigilance, and support of the public,” ASP Daso added.
President Tinubu’s Borno visit is part of a three-state tour, which will conclude in Lagos during the year-end holidays.
