Electricity supply has been restored to several parts of Nsukka in Enugu State following a successful upgrade at the UNN Injection Substation by MainPower Electricity Distribution Limited (MEDL).

The company confirmed that the restoration came after the installation of new 11kV indoor breakers, a critical intervention aimed at improving power stability in the area.

According to MEDL’s Head of Communications, Emeka Ezeh, the maintenance exercise—initially scheduled for March 26 but later shifted to March 27—was completed on Sunday, paving the way for the resumption of normal supply.

The upgrade has now restored electricity to four major feeders: Willson, UNN, Township, and Onuiyi, which serve key communities and commercial hubs across Nsukka.

Ezeh expressed appreciation to residents for their patience during the outage, explaining that the work became necessary due to equipment limitations that had disrupted supply to areas such as Ogige Market, UNN community, Obukpa, Isiuwa, Agu Eke Edem, and parts of Aku Road.

He added that during the maintenance period, affected locations were temporarily supported through alternative feeders to minimise disruption.

The company also acknowledged ongoing nationwide power challenges, attributing reduced supply to gas constraints affecting electricity generation across the country.

Despite these setbacks, MEDL reassured customers of its commitment to improving service delivery and optimising available power distribution across its network in Enugu State.
