The Enugu State Police Command has arrested a 28-year-old man, identified as Michael Ayisa, for allegedly robbing a female Point-of-Sale (POS) operator of ₦200,000 at gunpoint in Obollo-Afor, Udenu Local Government Area of the state.

The police also recovered a pistol resembling a Beretta and an expended 9mm ammunition shell from the suspect.

The Command disclosed this in a statement issued by its Police Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe, on Sunday.

According to the statement, the suspect was arrested at about 12:26 p.m. on October 18, 2026, by operatives attached to the Udenu Police Division, with support from members of the Neighbourhood Watch Group.

The arrest followed a report that the suspect had allegedly robbed the POS operator at her shop along Old Orba Road, Uhulor, Obollo-Afor, at about 9 a.m. on October 17.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the victim raised the alarm during the incident, prompting the suspect to flee while allegedly threatening to shoot anyone who attempted to pursue him.

The police said the suspect was subsequently apprehended, with the firearm and expended ammunition shell recovered during the operation.

The statement added that the suspect confessed to the crime during interrogation.
He is expected to be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigations, the police said.

The Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, Mamman Bitrus Giwa, commended the operatives for the arrest and acknowledged the support of the Neighbourhood Watch Group.

Giwa reiterated the Command’s commitment to combating crime across the state and urged residents to promptly report suspicious activities to the police and other recognised security agencies.
