A woman seen in a viral video feeding a baby from what appeared to be a sachet of the alcoholic drink Action Bitters has clarified that the substance was actually Coca-Cola, not alcohol, as widely assumed.

The video, which caused public outrage after circulating online, included a caption claiming the beverage was given to the child “every night just for her to sleep.”

In response, the Nigeria Police Force launched an investigation into the incident.

In a follow-up video, the unidentified woman explained that the clip was intended purely for entertainment and not meant to depict real actions.

“About the video I posted earlier, that is not Action Bitters. It is Coke. I poured Coke into the sachet,” she said.

“To be sincere, it was Coke I poured into the Action Bitters sachet. I even have a video on my phone showing when I was doing it.”

She admitted the move was a poor attempt at gaining attention online and acknowledged that the idea had “backfired.”

“I would never give her Action Bitters. I am not that kind of mother. I do not even take it myself,” she said, while insisting that the child, who is only five months old, was never given alcohol.

Appealing to the public for leniency, she added:

“We are begging Nigerians, please forgive us.”

As of the time of this report, the police have not issued a formal update on the status of the investigation.
