A motion filed by Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has been sent back to the Chief Judge by the Federal High Court, Abuja.
The motion seeks the reassignment of his case.
According to court proceedings, Kanu filed the motion personally and through his counsel, Uchenna Njoku, requesting an order for transfer to Abuja National Hospital for urgent medical attention.
In a brief ruling, Justice Musa Liman determined that the case file must go to the Chief Judge for reassignment.
This followed the end of the court’s annual vacation, which was cited in the application.
Counsel for the State Security Service (SSS), Adegboyega Awomolo, did not oppose the motion.
However, the judge noted that due to the number of cases listed for the day, over 30, it was impossible to hear all of them, so the court reduced the list to six.
Justice Liman emphasized that motions requiring reassignment must receive proper administrative attention.
Meanwhile, Kanu’s legal team awaits new directions now that the matter has been referred.
