The recent defection of Enugu State Governor, Peter Ndubisi Mbah, to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has been described as a major step towards accelerating development in Enugu State and strengthening the APC’s presence in the Southeast.
This was the view of Hon. Professor Paul Sunday Nnamchi, member representing Enugu East/Isi-Uzo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, who spoke to journalists in Abuja.
Describing the move as a “historic turning point,” Nnamchi welcomed the governor into what he called “the home of vision, unity, and renewed hope,” aligning Governor Mbah’s political trajectory with the vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“With profound joy, I warmly welcome His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Enugu State, into the All Progressives Congress,” Nnamchi said.
“This marks a new dawn in Enugu politics. It is a bold and strategic step that will bring our state closer to the centre and ensure better synergy for development.”
The federal lawmaker noted that Mbah’s defection holds promise for more impactful collaboration between Enugu’s representatives in the National Assembly and the federal government, especially in attracting critical infrastructure and social interventions to the state.
“As one who earlier joined this progressive family, I see in this move, a greater partnership for development, inclusion and transformation in our dear state,” he said.
He added that the governor’s presence in the APC will empower ongoing efforts by federal lawmakers to deliver visible and meaningful dividends of democracy to their constituents.
“Welcome to the winning side of history. Welcome home to the APC where the future begins today,” Nnamchi concluded.
