The Ogun State Government has announced that a medical doctor has been remanded in prison for allegedly issuing a fake medical report to aid social welfare activist Adetoun Onajobi, popularly known as Just Adetoun, in evading police arrest.
The activist herself remains at large, following a six-count charge filed against her by the Ogun State Police Command, the state government confirmed in a statement on its official X page.
The statement was issued on Monday by Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Oluwasina Ogungbade, SAN.
The controversy began after Nigerian-born British boxer Anthony Joshua was involved in a road accident in Ogun State in December 2025.
Just Adetoun released videos claiming that the state lacked emergency ambulance services and accusing Governor Dapo Abiodun of neglecting public welfare.
The Attorney General described these allegations as false, malicious, and misleading, noting that Ogun State operates multiple state-supported ambulance services.
Following the videos, the police invited Onajobi to report for questioning on January 5, 2026, but she failed to appear, claiming illness in subsequent videos while remaining in hiding.
Her lawyer submitted a medical report purportedly confirming her indisposition, but police investigations revealed the document was fraudulent.
“The doctor who issued the report admitted that he never examined, treated, or attended to Adetoun Onajobi,” the statement said.
“He has been arrested, charged, and remanded for issuing a fraudulent medical document and obstructing justice.”
The Attorney General also questioned the credibility of the activist, highlighting previous incidents of misconduct, including bullying a woman in Lagos and unlawfully filming and sharing images of the woman’s underage child online.
The Ogun State Police Command had earlier confirmed that Onajobi was invited following complaints about her online posts criticizing Governor Abiodun, including claims that the state prioritized luxury SUVs for local government chairmen over functional ambulance services.
The government stressed that investigations into the activist’s actions and the fraudulent medical report remain ongoing.
