Nigerian professionals seeking employment opportunities in the United States now have a clearer path to securing H-1B work visas, following the release of a list of the country’s leading visa-sponsoring employers.

The list, published by US immigration law firm Ellis Visa Sponsors, identifies the top companies that consistently sponsor thousands of highly skilled foreign workers each year under the H-1B visa programme.

The H-1B visa allows American employers to hire qualified foreign professionals for specialised positions that typically require at least a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent.

Although demand for the visa exceeds the annual quota, several multinational companies continue to sponsor eligible international applicants.

According to Ellis Visa Sponsors, the leading H-1B visa sponsors in 2026 are Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Ernst & Young (EY), Deloitte Consulting, Accenture, Apple, Intel, IBM and Meta.

The immigration firm explained that applicants must first secure a genuine job offer from a US employer for a position that qualifies under the H-1B programme.

Candidates are also required to possess the relevant academic qualifications, professional experience or specialised skills needed for the role.

The visa process begins with employers registering prospective employees during the annual H-1B electronic lottery.

Successful applicants then proceed through the Labour Condition Application process before the employer files Form I-129 with the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).

For applicants outside the United States, the final stage involves completing the online DS-160 visa application, paying the required fees and attending a visa interview at a US embassy or consulate with supporting documents, including a valid passport and approved immigration forms.

The publication noted that while the H-1B programme remains highly competitive because of its annual cap, qualified professionals who secure sponsorship from participating employers stand a strong chance of building careers in the United States.
