MainPower Electricity Distribution Limited (MEDL) has announced a planned six-day power outage in parts of Nsukka and surrounding communities in Enugu State to enable the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to carry out maintenance work at its Nsukka station.

The planned outage will run from Thursday, November 5, to Tuesday, November 10, 2026, between 9 am and 5 pm daily.

The Head of Communications of MEDL, Emeka Ezeh, disclosed this in a statement issued in Enugu on Monday, explaining that the exercise was necessary to facilitate maintenance repairs on equipment at the TCN station.

According to Ezeh, the maintenance work will affect electricity supply to customers on the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), SUMAS and Orba 33kV feeders, resulting in power interruptions in the affected areas throughout the scheduled periods.

He listed the communities expected to experience interruptions to include Ukopi, Opi Agu, Eha-Alumona, Orba Town, Obollo-Afor, parts of Obollo-Eke, Enugu Ezike and Ibagwa.

Other affected areas are Nkalagu, Obukpa, Okpaligbo, Iheaka, Edem Ani, Agbani, Uzo-Uwani, Obimo, Nkpologu, Lejja, Nguru, Aku and Ogbede, as well as neighbouring communities.

Ezeh further identified Odim Gate, Nkpor, UNN, Nru, Ede Oballa, El Tabera Estate, Ikenga Estate, Wilson Company, Umakashi, Isiakpu, G.R.A. and Ogige Main Market among the locations that would be affected by the planned outage.

He apologised to customers for the inconvenience the temporary disruption might cause and appealed for their patience and understanding during the maintenance period.

“The exercise is necessary to facilitate essential technical work aimed at improving the reliability and quality of electricity supply to customers,” Ezeh said.
