We Pray Too Much In Nigeria, It’s Time To Embrace Science & Technology – Bishop Kukah

“After independence, in order to build a great nation, each country went to work. But in Nigeria, after independence, our people went to pray and fast.”

“So, while we were praying, Malaysia came here and took our palm seedlings and build a great factory of it.”

“While we were praying, Singapore went into investment in technology.
While we were praying, India went into ICT.

Advertorial

“While we were praying, China went to massive industrialization.
While we were shouting Allah Alakuba! UAE went into massive infrastructural development.”

“While we were binding and casting Lucifer, Japan went into technological development.
While we were speaking in tongues, Denmark went into education of her citizens.”

“While we were mounting big speakers in our places of worship, USA was mounting man on the moon. After our prayers, God, being a wise God decided to reward us according to our labour.”

“Since those that went into industrialization, technology, infrastructural development, ICT, education etc had been rewarded accordingly. It’s only wise God rewards us with our efforts in prayers.”

“That’s why today, Nigerian pastors are competing in building the biggest churches. That’s why there are more prayer houses and worship places than hospitals and schools. That’s why people rush to prayer houses for medical and business solutions instead of hospitals.”

“That’s why we don’t do business proposals before jumping into business since we are going to back it up with prayers. And when such collapse, we blame devil.”

“That’s why it’s a sin to say anything negative about pastors and imams.
That’s why our pastors don’t consider the opinion of engineers while building and blame devil when the building collapsed.”

“That’s why faith in God replaces building pillars and when it collapsed we blame it on Lucifer.
That’s why our pastors are making sure they plant church branches instead of schools in every street in Nigeria.”

“That’s why we always wait for God to do that which ability to accomplish He has already handed over to us.
That’s why we want our teachers to labour on earth and come to heaven for their rewards.”

“Nigeria is a prayer loving, God fearing nation. Religion has taken the place of technology, infrastructure, education and all.
When we are traveling, we ignore all the necessary road requirements, servicing of our vehicles and pray. And, once we pray, we can put a half fit vehicle on the road and blame our step mother or mother in law if anything goes wrong.”

“That’s why there are more people dying on our roads than wild life animals in the wilderness.
Because, we pray and fast and leave everything to God when God has given us all we need to survive and build a nation.”

~ God help us.

There Are Conspiracies To Overthrow Tinubu, But It Will Fail – Military Insists

There are conspiracies from various sources to encourage personnel of the Nigerian armed forces to overthrow the current democratic government, which is presided over by President Bola Tinubu, a report citing the Military high command has revealed.

However, the command asserted that the attempt will fail and that the military is content and thrives under democracy, so, it won’t take part in any plot to undermine Nigeria’s hard-won democracy.

Advertorial

Tukur Gusau, a brigadier-general and the director of defence information, called the development “unpatriotic and wicked” in an early morning message sent to Daily Trust on Saturday.

He said that the military will continue to carry out its constitutional obligations rather than attempting to overthrow the current democratic government. He said that the Nigerian armed forces would not engage in any coup.

He added that the military will continue to carry out its constitutional obligations rather than planning a coup against the current democratic government, stressing that nigeria’s armed forces would not be diverted.

Gusau’s response according to the Newspaper, came after some Nigerians demanded that the military takes over as the nation’s leader because they think democratic governments have failed.

But, the senior military commander emphasised in his statement that the Nigerian armed forces, led by Gen. Christopher Musa, the chief of defence staff, would not engage in any type of insubordination for whatever reason.

“The reports calling on the military to interfere in our democracy is highly unpatriotic, wicked, and an attempt to distract the armed forces of nigeria from performing its constitutional responsibilities,” the senior military man said.

Gusau denied allegations that the Nigerian military did not properly care for its soldiers, stressing that it would not permit any one person or group of people to incite military officers against the current administration.

Gusau said, “the defence headquarters frowns at a report being circulated online about welfare issues in the armed forces of nigeria. We wish to state unequivocally that the military is happy and better under democracy and will not get involved in any act to sabotage the hard-earned democracy in our country.

“While the leadership of the afn gives priority to welfare of its personnel however, we detest any attempt by any individual or group to instigate the law-abiding armed forces of nigeria to embark on any unconstitutional change of government in our country.

“The armed forces under the leadership of the Chief of Defence staff, General CG Musa is determined to ensure complete subordination of the armed forces to constitutional authority under his excellency, president bola ahmed tinubu and will not be distracted from its roles that are well defined in the 1999 constitution (as amended).”

2023: Obasanjo Calls For Christians’ Participation In Election

Former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, on Saturday, lamented that the foundation of election in Nigeria is corrupt while calling on Christians to participate in politics to make it clean.

Obasanjo, speaking at the 57th annual convention and 67th anniversary of The Gospel Faith Mission International (GOFAMINT), held at Gospel City, Ogunmakin, Ogun State, said politics should not ordinarily be dirty, adding that those who participate in politics make it dirty.

Advertorial

Speaking on the theme, ‘The roles of the church in nation building at a time like this,’ the former president, who congratulated the church on the successful hosting of the convention, said Christians must stand out among the corruptive tendencies and influences of the world, particularly in politics.

He told the audience that as believers, they must stick to the values of Christ and ask themselves all the time, ‘What will Christ do if He finds himself in the circumstances that I find myself in?’

He said at a time like this in the country, when there is insecurity, hopelessness, poverty, depression, a time that is not conducive to living, the church must rise to the occasion as the salt of the world.

“We are in the world, yet we are not of the world. We are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. We are to be like Jesus who, when He was in the world, did not belong to the world,” Obasanjo told the congregants.

He urged the church to demand justice, fairness and equity in the country’s social, political and economic aspects.

Speaking further, he said, “Food without salt is stale. The church is meant to flavour it’s environment. A church that cannot play its role has lost its saltiness. Christ has chosen us to bring forth fruits and that our fruits should abide.”
He described the task of nation-building as endless, a journey and not a destination, as he tasked believers to stand out and remain exemplary anywhere they are.

Above all, Obasanjo admonished Christians to bear the fruits of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

“Living in the world is not a bed of roses. Christ had told us there will be tribulations and hardships so that we can prepare ahead and just as he came out as a conqueror, we also will come out as conquerors,” he concluded.

Earlier, in his welcome speech, the General Overseer of GOFAMINT, Pastor (Dr) E. O. Abina, had recalled that during a visit to Aso Rock Chapel when Obasanjo was president, he met him teaching Sunday School, adding that when they both spoke on his arrival at the convention ground, the former president told him to his astonishment that he is still teaching Sunday School.

The group however, urged “the Federal Government as a matter of urgency to resuscitate all the moribund refineries in Nigeria and issue new license to individuals or group of individuals to build more refineries across all the geo-political zone in the country.

“That President Bola Ahmed Tinubu should embrace liberalisation and encourage establishment of local modular refineries, hence engage illegal local refiners for international training, stressed that approval of local modular refineries in oil producing communities would usher in a rapid development of a new Nigeria we dreamed of”

The NDYP commended the Federal Government over the bold step taken by President Tinubu on the removal of fuel subsidy, saying it will go a long way to reposition the nation’s economy.

“While it is one thing to remove fuel subsidy, it is another thing if not the most important thing to follow up and actualize the said purpose why it was removed.

“Hence the NDYP hereby call on the Ministry of Petroleum to monitor day-to-day activities of all the personnel saddled with the responsibility of executing President Tinubu’s policies in the oil sector with a view to ensuring effective service delivery and proper implementation.
