The Enugu State Police Command has arrested seven individuals in connection with a series of armed robbery incidents in the state, recovering firearms, ammunition, and stolen valuables.
In a statement made available to DAILY GAZETTE on Monday, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe, revealed that the suspects were apprehended by detectives from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) following credible intelligence.
“The arrests were made after a report was received at the Unity Police Division regarding armed robbers who invaded homes in Ibagwa-Nike on February 3rd and 6th, 2025. The case was transferred to the Anti-Robbery (D9) Section, where detectives launched an intelligence-driven investigation that led to the suspects’ capture,” the statement read.
The arrested suspects include Chetachukwu Okolo (32), Ogwuche Chukwuemeka alias “Shenkes” (22), Ifeanyi Okoye (29), Sopuruchukwu Odenigbo alias “Jadon” (28), Onyebuchi Ukwu (20), Chukwuebuka Chukwu alias “Kobo” (25), and Mmaduabuchi Ukeh (25).
During the operation, police recovered a pump-action gun, two locally made pistols, two live cartridges, and two machetes.
Also seized were SIM cards, identity cards, clothing, supplement drugs, and other stolen items, which victims have identified.
The suspects have reportedly confessed to the crime and will be charged in court upon the completion of investigations.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Kanayo Uzuegbu, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to tackling crime, urging residents to stay vigilant and support law enforcement efforts to ensure a safer Enugu State.
