More than 650 people have reportedly died in Iran in the past week as a result of widespread Israeli airstrikes, according to the US-based Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA).
In a statement released on Friday, HRANA stated that 657 individuals have been killed, with 2,037 others injured since the Israeli bombing campaign began.
Iranian authorities have not released official casualty figures, and HRANA said it relies on a combination of “a broad network of informants and publicly available sources” for its reporting.
The group further detailed that at least 263 of the dead were civilians, while 164 were identified as members of the Iranian military. An additional 230 casualties remain unidentified at this time.
The airstrikes have also caused significant damage to infrastructure.
According to HRANA, a projectile hit a children’s hospital in Tehran, though no injuries were reported in that incident.
In Ilam province, a fire station sustained damage, and a strike on a car factory in western Iran sparked a large blaze.
Israel has defended its ongoing military campaign, insisting that the strikes are aimed at preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapons.
Israeli officials continue to view a nuclear-armed Iran as an existential threat to the state.
