Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu state has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Senator Okey Ezea, describing the news as a painful loss not only to Enugu North Senatorial District but to the entire state.

In an emotional statement, the governor said Senator Ezea’s death “cuts deeply,” noting that one did not need to share his political ideology to recognise his courage, resilience, and unwavering dedication to public service.

Mbah praised Ezea as a man who always took a clear stand on issues, earning him admiration even among his political opponents.

According to the governor, Senator Ezea’s impact was felt across every sphere he touched, business, politics, and public service, where his passion for Enugu State shone through.

He described the late senator as a steadfast advocate of good governance and a leader whose voice consistently echoed the concerns and aspirations of his people.

Mbah also highlighted Senator Ezea’s role in the National Assembly, where his brilliance and progressive contributions earned him respect from lawmakers across party lines.

“His passing is a sad depletion in the ranks of Enugu’s political leaders,” the governor said.

On behalf of the government and the people of Enugu State, Governor Mbah extended heartfelt condolences to Senator Ezea’s family, the people of Enugu North, and the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

He prayed for God to grant the late senator eternal rest and comfort to those he left behind.
