A group of soldiers in Benin Republic announced on Sunday that they had removed President Patrice Talon from power.

Talon, who is expected to complete his 10-year tenure next April, was declared ousted in a broadcast aired on state television.

Identifying themselves as the “Military Committee for Refoundation” (CMR), the soldiers said they had convened and resolved that “Mr. Patrice Talon is removed from office as president of the republic.”
