Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command, attached to the Anti-Cultism Tactical Squad, have uncovered and foiled a cult group’s forceful initiation exercise in Enugu, arresting six male suspects and recovering a firearm, dangerous weapons and other incriminating items.
The arrests were made on December 5, 2025, following credible intelligence that led police operatives to a forest at Ugwu Peak, Iva Valley, in Enugu North Local Government Area, where victims were allegedly forcefully initiated into the Supreme Vikings Confraternity on November 25, 2025.
Recovered from the suspects were one locally made double-barrelled pistol, four cutlasses allegedly used in carrying out the criminal act, and two empty bottles of Squadron rum reportedly used during the initiation process.
The development was confirmed in a statement issued on Saturday by the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Daniel Ndukwe, and made available to DAILY GAZETTE.
The suspects were identified as Edeh Francis Chigbo, also known as “Saint” (22); Ogbu Fabulous, alias “Nwakanwa” (23); Odom Chiemerie, alias “Coded” (28); Nweke Anayo, alias “Chaplet” (22); Obumneme Obiechina, alias “Biggy” (30); and Chigozie Ugbene, also known as “God Bless” (20).
According to the police, the suspects confessed to being members of the secret cult group and admitted their involvement in the forceful initiation.
They will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigations.
Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, Mamman Bitrus Giwa reaffirmed the command’s commitment to ridding Enugu State of unrepentant criminals and curbing cult-related activities, especially during the festive season and beyond.
He urged residents to remain law-abiding and vigilant, cooperate with the police, and promptly report suspicious movements and criminal activities to security agencies.
