The Iranian government executed a man accused of spying for Israel by leaking information related to a nuclear scientist who was killed during the recent 12-day conflict between Iran and Israel in June.

According to Mizan Online, the official website of Iran’s judiciary, Roozbeh Vadi was hanged after his sentence was upheld by the Supreme Court.

The man reportedly passed on classified details about a nuclear scientist assassinated during what Iran described as the Zionist regime’s aggressive campaign.

Details on when Vadi was arrested or sentenced have not been made public.

The report said he was recruited by Israel’s intelligence agency, Mossad, through online contacts and subsequently shared sensitive information.

The conflict in mid-June began when Israel launched an intense bombing operation against Iranian targets, which prompted retaliatory missile and drone attacks from Iran.

The offensive resulted in the deaths of numerous senior military officials, nuclear scientists, and many others, hitting both military installations and civilian locations.

Local media reports indicate that over a dozen nuclear scientists were among those killed during the Israeli strikes.

Since the outbreak of hostilities, Iran has vowed to conduct swift trials for suspected collaborators working with Israel.

Authorities had announced multiple arrests and execution of several individuals convicted of espionage on behalf of Mossad.

Human rights organizations, including Amnesty International, note that Iran ranks second globally for the number of executions carried out, following China.
